I had never read this one before but I really liked the Netflix series so I wanted to read it, and I thought it could be fun to read for you guys! 🥰 The language is a bit dense but hopefully it's alright with me reading it. You could also find a pdf for it to read along with if you want

This was such a delight. I have not read/listened to Poe for so long but was obsessed when I was a little girl. I am always surprised at how at first his writing makes me want to resist or laugh at it but then inevitably I can't look away or stop. This also made me pull out my Harry Clarke book who did the illustrations for Poe that I used to just stare at, they are as mesmerizing and unnerving as Poe's tales. I am such a scaredy cat but I love your suggestion of watching the Netflix show but reading each story before the episode. I love that guy's shows but they terrify me and break my heart. He is so exquisite in his ability to capture trauma, love, and grief within the supernatural. Lastly, for a laugh if you have never seen it there is a comic called Hark A Vagrant and if you search that and Edgar Allen Poe the first result is one of my favorite comics she did about Jules Verne being a total fangirl for Poe and it makes me laugh every time. Appreciate all your work and time you put in to these and hope they bring you some enjoyment.

That being said his writing is really interesting, I like how psychological it can be especially. Maybe listening to someone read it aloud like this might help reframe it a bit like you were saying!

I really love that you don’t edit out any fumbles you make when you are reading, it makes it less like listening to an audiobook and more like actually being next to someone who is reading aloud; that is a big part of the charm of your story times! It’s also why I find it’s so hard to get someone to read aloud to you because they are worried about messing up, but being read to is such an intimate and sexy experience, even when someone isn’t reading you erotica, perfection isn’t the point. Thank you as always for your service!
