The Showcase

Hello, all you fine folks!

I'm happy to announce I'm starting off this new year with a big one:

Crosshead's DungeonDraft 1.0

With over 1000 handpainted assets, my overhaul of DungeonDraft is ready for testing! It's not a complete 1 to 1, mine has more terrains, paths, walls, etc. but not all the objects just yet. As my focus was on getting the basics for this one right. I plan on uploading a little tutorial to showcase how this first version works and I plan on doing regular updates with each new adventure/map I create. Took me a bit longer than I had planned to release it, just because I found it hard to keep from perfecting it every time I discovered a better way of doing things. I still plan on doing that, but from now I'll make sure to release updates on the regular. This one was twice as big as all my previous ones together so took a bit longer.

Showcase Map

To show off some of the assets at work I created this showcase map (which will also be featured in my upcoming adventure (I plan on dropping that this Friday).  It's a 152 by 10 looped map.

Dropbox Update

Doing these monthly adventures as the foundation for my monthly maps makes it a bit easier to reconfigure the layout of my dropbox. Keeping the map folders to "FULL MAPS" and "TILES", and using the designations DUNGEONS, TERRAINS, etc. to help navigate them.

I also plan on adding a link in each post to both folders as I've noticed people having some troubles with the FEATURED tags

you'll find the link to:

More Updates coming

Updates I'm doing are my adventure that's tied to the big map, my next post will showcase some of my extended map selection for $5 and up, I might also get to uploading some "season" bonus maps for my $10 and up patrons which are just variations of the extended maps set in other seasons (winter, desert, etc.). I'm also working on doing a community update, which will be a discord revamp and a Dungeondraft user-made maps section with rewards for the best maps (and collecting them on my site). Finally, I'm doing a tutorial as mentioned before to showcase the unique features of my assets).

Thank you all for your patience on this one,

Kind Regards,

Absolutely CRUSHING it!!!

Good question! I'm going to update my Patreon on this subject next. First of all sharing maps made with these assets is definitely on the table. I actually plan on making them readily avaliable on my site as well if anyone wants to share them by providing an upload link, and remodeling my discord channel for it. A standard commercial license isn't something I'm considering yet I do plan on something for that, anyone can email me about it and I can discuss on case to case basis. Have some unanswered emails on this that I'll be addressing soon. Finishing this was my priority, so if you've already messaged my about it I'll contact you too!

Just got a chance to download the new asset pack and tinker around with it. You continue to be one of the only artists who is taking advantage of DungeonDraft's materials feature. The cave tile material alone is a huge improvement. On top of that the assets look great! I'm really excited to see how it continues to evolve. With all of that out of the way: I wasn't able to find anything on acceptable usage of the assets. Are we allowed to use maps made with these assets on streams? Share them behind a Patreon wall or for free? I always like to know how I can use assets when I've got them. Thanks so much!

Absolutely incredible update. My players and I couldn't go back to using anything else once we switched to your assets, and now there's a wide enough range to cover everything we could reasonably ever need.

I've been talking to him about building a custom artist version, or just a straight up Crosshead edition of Dungeondraft for some time but I suspect he's been busy updating the software. Good suggestion on the ch for the walls, I hadn't thought of that!

Fantastic work on the new DungeonDraft Asset Pack, Bert. If I might offer a suggestion, it would be to name the walls, portals and materials "Ch_name", like the terrains. That makes it easier to find your art without having to wait for the preview. Hard to differentiate the tiny preview icons in the menu. Good idea on making object tags start with a "." Just hope Megasploot will allow us to disable the default art someday :P
