His current tactic doesn’t necessitate such a scenario. He didn’t expect the Velaryons to take Tyrosh, he wouldn’t risk them defying a summons.

2023-05-24 23:30:15 +0000 UTCInteresting chapter. I’m still confused on why jaehaerys didn’t summon them as vassals of Dragonstone or the iron throne. Stripping their title as archon of Tyrosh and handing it to another would still spell of tyranny, but doing that would surely hurt the Velayrons more than trying to hurt their coffers. They may be independent rulers of tyrosh, but high tide is still sworn to the Iron throne. Resisting these summons would mean rebellion. Corlys wouldn’t resist. One dragon compared to four or five would mean nothing but kneeling, no matter if Corlys likes it or not. Still love the story, don’t get me wrong, I’m just still surprised the king took that action and not the one I mentioned.
