Dear Patrons, here I am with friends at Day of the Dead in Mexico. Thank you, Mexico, for giving us a humorous and celebratory way to reflect and honor the dead.

I went on Tinder! Every relationship is practice for the next!

After teaching erotic wellness classes in Mexico, I had free time and decided to go on Tinder for my first time! I wanted male company…and to practice my Spanish! Confident in my communication skills and good attitude, I know I can enjoy anyone for a short time.

I meet a beautiful man who had just moved from Mexico City to ‘gypsy’ Playa del Carmen. Conversing half in Spanish and English, I discover he is digital artist and graphic designer with a daughter in Playa. His artwork, stories, bicycling and cat ‘Gaia’ are muy amable. Mexico viene en vivo! We traverse new territory.

Upon leaving I introduced him to a lovely woman artist friend I’d recently met because I thought they’d like each other. Back home our Eng/Span email dialogue continues to engage us. He tells me they are preparing for an art show together. Did I give him away? Will we ever be together again?

In dating, I believe in leaving a man better than you find him. It’s done through honesty, compassion and love. It’s wanting to see someone thrive because that makes you thrive. I believe every relationship is practice for the next; every man is practice for the next. I leave him better for my sisters…and hope, my sisters will do the same for me.

How can we leave the door of life open when saying goodbye to a relationship? Who may walk through an open door with a cheery hello? Maybe old friend we treated kindly who wants to share new wonder and appreciation.
