We're Not in Kansas Anymore!

Dear Ones,

Please enjoy my 4 min. story from my latest award-winning video "Tales of Sex Magic & Healing."  Those of you at the $10/mo tier can see the whole show.  And at the $5/ mo, my first show, "Naked at My Age," about me getting into sex work in my 50's,  I will repost Naked with improved sound!  I love telling you stories, my sexy family, and hope they encourage you to value, trust and share your own!

Here's my thoughts on a somber topic in the news that deserves a closer look.  Let me know what you think:

Charla’s Thoughts on the Assault of Asian Masseuses

The assault on Asian massage parlor women is portrayed in the media as racial, where, as a twenty-year veteran sex worker, I see it as an attack on bodyworkers (and sex workers). We have a long, sordid history of violence against sex workers—regardless of ethnicity.  This time it’s Asian, over and over it is Black, Queer, White, Transgendered, Brown or Whoever.

I’ve elected a long career in sexuality that has evolved over the years through training, yet everyday I feel the judgment, misunderstanding, and lack of safety from community and law enforcement. Societal and religious shame around sex, along with negative images in the press, and a lack of protection from police, all endanger consenting adults who seek sexual experiences and well as those who provider them. If we see the massacre of masseuses as a crime against sex workers, not just Asians, then we can start the real work, to decriminalize sex work.

Erotic bodyworkers provide a valuable, needed, humane and professional service. Many who seek and provide sex (and erotic experiences) do it for pleasure, healing, better health, self awareness, and spiritual connection. Why ‘criminalize' our family members, neighbors, friends, work colleagues, civic leaders…and people from every walk of life? My work makes relationships, families and communities safer, more enjoyable and authentic. As a society we need stop stigmatizing and criminalizing consensual adults seeking and providing sex. It’s a legitimate profession deserving full protection of the law and healthcare facilities

Violence against sex workers will continue to terrorize all ethnicities and communities until we legalize the sex trade between consenting adults—and commit to make it safer for all.
