The np can be used like a sort of clairvoyance, it let's him figure out mysteries and read his opponents far better than most servants, it grants him knowledge about things no one else knows but in Fgo he prefers not to tell us too much because it's less fun when you know everything. He doesn't need to use it offensively since he has 2 other noble phantasms that are crazy powerful.

2025-01-09 22:24:41 +0000 UTCThe myth Shirou is referencing is about how when Fionn was young, his master Finegas caught the legendary Salmon of Knowledge, said to grant infinite wisdom to the person who ate it. He told Fionn to cook it for him, but not to eat any of it. While cooking it, Fionn burned his thumb on the grease from the fish and put his thumb in his mouth to cool, but because of the grease on it, he counted as being the first person to eat the salmon and therefore gained all of its wisdom. After that he was able to access that wisdom by biting his thumb (in Fate, that's actually one of his noble phantasms). Also, Fionn mac Cumhail is pronounced "Finn McCool".

Fun fact: Fionn was also the lancer from the previous Grail war of Fate/Apocrypha, he was summoned by Darnic (Vlad's master) and helped him get the Holy Grail, there are only 2 lancers to ever win the Grail in the while Fate franchise and Fionn is one of them.
