The Legend of Artoria: Garden of Avalon (Fate Lore) - REACTION

Watching this super late but still wanted to leave my thoughts - When he was talking about Merlin seeing the world as a tapestry reminded me of how in the Fate/Grand Order Memorial Movie there is a shot of Merlin looking down viewing the war stained violent history of humanity, hes seen all of humanities ugliness all of its evil and yet he still choose to intervene, he still chose to save humanity and thats beautiful. - Fun fact, Add Gray's mystic code from case files, the one in the birdcage that seals Rhongomyniad, its personality is based on Sit Kay's - Caliburn stopping ageing is just one of the powers of the sword, the idea comes from the actual myths of King Arthur where the sword in the stone was said to give Arthur youthful longevity, in Fate this works as a perfect way to help hide her gender since she wont finish going through puberty as an adult bodied Artoria is much more well endowed as seen as her when summoned as a Lancer - Fun tidbit for the Lancer version of Artoria: so the Lancer version of Artoria (different from the Lion King) is from a split in the timeline where after Caliburn breaks she instead only uses Rhongomyniad and not Excalibur or Avalon so she starts to age normally again, - Something the video leaves out which isn't super important but is good to know is Five of the knights of the round were siblings and Morgan's kids. Agravain, Gawain, Gaheris, Gareth, and Mordred -So the big thing that I think the 2006 adaption fails to explain and this video does not explain either is Saber's status as a Servant. Basically as she lays dying she makes a deal with a world to become a counter guardian in exchange for letting her search for the Holy Grail, this lets her get summoned from that spot in time as opposed from the throne like a normal heroic spirit letting her keep her memories between summonings but also limiting her Nobel Phantasms, as if she was an actual Heroic Spirit she should have both her swords and Avalon as a Saber class servant but only has Excalibur because that's the only sword she had on her when she made the contract. The contract is eventually broken in the Fate Route (2006) where she abandons her wish for the grail and comes to peace with her past(She does not become a counter guardian). Then Bedivere finds her, takes her to the forest, returns Excalibur back to the Lady of the Lake and instead of dying like normal Artoria ends up in Avalon. Fate Route Saber reunites with Shirou in Avalon in the Last Episode.

I will most definitely be checking that out as well and I'll also post it here :)

Glad you made this I do recommend revisiting this video or read the novel itself in your own time cause lots of Garden of Avalon concepts will be relevant later on in Fgo Lostbelt 6 if you ever get around wanting to read it someday or hoping a adaptation of it. But yeah this was basically Saber’s tragic past as king in Garden of Avalon. Then her journey starts in Fate zero and all of Stay Night as you know it then her story ends In the special epilogue I mentioned before called LAST EPISODE where Saber and Shirou reunites in the paradise of Avalon. Hope you get to read that one it’s only 30 mins of reading.

Yeah it’s a wild detail to have in the origin story for the face of the franchise (and for Mordred, her daughter son). And it’s a temporary addition just meant to be used to impregnate Guinevere. Otherwise the mana transfer scenes in og Fate route would’ve gone a bit differently.

Yeah definitely but even with the lore of Vortigern and the AI pictures, I think his actual design (if there's one out there or yet to be made) would look so sick

Alright that answered all my questions pretty much and I did NOT expect the Morgan thing to be like game of thrones that's insane. I did just think of another question following the Morgan thing....does Merlin grant saber a di*k temporarily or is it permanent 💀

CrypticBoss

That’s not vortigern actual design, most of the images in this video are ai generations

Oh boy sent this request months ago when you were starting out. She doesnt die, remember she doesnt have a spirit form cause shes not dead. She dies at the end of the fate route which ends her contract with the counterforce and then becomes a heroic spirit to be summoned in other fates like FGO.

A couple things: How did Morgan get Artoria’s sperm? Following Morgan using an enchantment spell on Artoria, Morgan (Artoria’s sister btw) got what she came for the good ol fashioned way. It’s very game of thrones. And Saber is a special case as a servant in that she is not summoned from the throne of heroes as a heroic spirit, but brought into a grail war by the world / alaya itself while still alive. You might remember in Fate Zero after Saber is defeated and the grail is destroyed we next see her on top of a bloody desolate hill. That hill is Camalan, where she returns right at the point she originally made her contract with the world, and she waits to be summoned into another grail war. This loop keeps happening until the end of the Fate route, where she makes peace with her time as king, breaks her contract with the world, and allows herself to die. (Unless this is the Camelot singularity and Bedivere manages to fuck that up). Btw, Saber’s wish for the grail is basically a giant trap. Even though Saber’s reign ends in tragedy, deep lore confirms it is in fact the best possible outcome. Any other king’s rule would’ve led to a far worse ending for Britain. So Saber is caught in a loop of fighting grail wars and getting sent back to the worst moment of her life if she loses. But if she wins it’s probably even worse since her wish ensures that something even worse happens to Britain and she is also made into a counter guardian just like Archer which means an eternity of killing people on battlefields.

basically, she didn't die but she ended up I a similar situation to Shiro as a living heroic spirit. that is why after she ascends, she essentially is looking to obtain the grail and bring about Britans prosperity for the same reason they were looking for it before it got sent to 'heaven'. however as we know, in all the timelines we have seen, she leaves the hill and returns Excalibur to the lake. that's all I can remember about the post servant time.
