It is actually. While the version we see Saber used is sealed it is still considered one of the strongest NPs among all servants BUT when it faces a Threat to the World it becomes the strongest weapon in Fate.

2024-12-12 18:02:12 +0000 UTCNow I'm trying to think how much Rin actually knows about how the grail system works, with her comment about how Shirou taking Illya in might be a potentially brilliant move. If she's aware that Illya is the vessel of the lesser grail (as we see in UBW, when Gil rips it out of her), she would know that keeping her close makes a lot of sense. If that's what she's referring to, it would also tie in to the scene at the end with Caster talking about making Sakura into a vessel, like what happens in HF.

2024-12-12 09:22:12 +0000 UTCShirou’s whole selfless nice guy routine / obsession with self sacrifice is a function of his survivors guilt. Because he was saved by Kiritsugu from the fuyuki fire Shirou believes he has to make up for everyone that couldn’t be saved. And Saber is an exception since she remembers everything from her past summonings including the 4th HGW. and it’s a retcon but she remembers illya and irisveil so it adds a layer to Saber softening up with illya. As for why Saber remembers her past summonings, I forget how deep this anime gets into it so I’ll hold off for now.

There were suppose to be more of that dream sequence of master and servant, and saber’s over all insecurities about being seen as a women due to pretending being a man in her time just a lot of cuts of saber’s greatness. Sometime it’s hard to appreciate this adaptation due to the blending’s of the other two routes but the good news is the HF stuff should only last an episode or two. Then the rest should be faithful to Saber’s route.

It’s so peak aside for being a tragic story of saber’s past you will also get a deep dive in most of the knights of the round table perspective on saber’s reign as king and her abandoned human side. Also it introduces a lot of concepts such as the holy spear of Rhongomyniad the planet’s texture, the fairy’s roaming around Britain in that time, the dragon Albion two aspect and how he becomes the underground spiritual tomb in the clock tower. Just a lot of stuff that will be relevant later on in Lord el melloi case files and especially LOSTBELT 6 in Fgo!

2024-12-12 04:40:19 +0000 UTCKeep in mind that not only is that a projection of Caliburn (which are weaker than the originals) BUT Caliburn itself is weaker than Excalibur and it still can kill Heracles 7 times at once. Just shows how powerful Excalibur really is.
