Fate/Stay Night Episode 11 (UNCUT REACTION)

WHAT IS THAT NP

Fate/Stay Night Episode 11 (UNCUT REACTION)

Ooooh, i'm learning more than I am in the media.

So the projection magic Shirou did to make the stuff in the shed is actually insane, when a normal Magus does projection it disappears after a while because the world erases it do to it being a copy, something that should not exist, but when Shirou does projection his copies are so good that the world can't even tell them apart so they stay. That's why Rin said hes the embodiment of that type of magecraft. Here is the Fate route we dont know why Shirou can do this but in UBW we learn its cause of his reality marble. Also projections disappearing is why Kiritsugu told Shirou not to bother with it and to instead focus on Reinforcement magecraft. Rider's blades could not kill him cause he was unconscionably projecting swords under his skin, that's what was blocking the attacks, this is shown in the bad end Matal mentioned. Yeah the Fate Route is supposed to present Shirou's ideals, UBW is supposed to challenge them via Archer, and Heavens Feel deconstructs them via Sakura Yes you are watching a romance anime lmao

On the rewatch, watch closely that by the time Rider traps Salter with the net of chains and the rocks, she was bleeding from a cut on her head. While retreating to summon, she launches a bunch of her blood that had dripped down her arms forward for the summoning circle.

I think he's well aware of Avalon at this point. Basically same thing that was happening to him at the end of Heaven's Feel. Avalon tries to heal him, but as the damage from the fall is so great and, as Matal stated, his Origin being Sword, trying to heal the damage instead creates a large number of blades within his body and kills him. Basically, he should be dead on impact, Avalon tries to save him but instead just makes him a jumbled mess of blades on the ground. Funnily enough, as you're not supposed to know about Avalon nor his Origin by this point in time, the "Tiger Dojo" scene from this bad end just has Taiga and Illya confused about what just happened.

From what I remember, Shirou hits the floor and survives but immediately notices that he is pierced by swords from within and dies shortly after. I think it is caused by the awakening of his "Origin," which is Sword, and by [Spoiler] still being inside him.

Sadly, not in the anime, Saber Medusa was released about a year ago in FGO, but she's just in FGO. https://fategrandorder.fandom.com/wiki/Medusa_(Saber)

Wow I never caught that but I'll keep that in mind when I rewatch the movie again. Definitely will record a reaction/review to it as well just like we did with strange fake

CrypticBoss

Yessirrr that's why these comments make the experience much better since I had remembered what you said as well about Shirou and how selfless he is. Also, has Medusa ever been summoned as a Saber class then?

CrypticBoss

I love this version and I can't wait to see more Saber

CrypticBoss

Wait so what exactly happens if you don't summon Saber like does he hit the floor and not die?

CrypticBoss

Funnily enough, Perseus' wife Andromeda can also be summoned as a Rider, and following similar logic. Andromeda was chained to the rocks as a sacrifice to the sea monster Cetus. Perseus used Medusa's severed head to turn Cetus to stone, saving Andromeda. So, because "Andromeda" = "chained to the rocks" and "Cetus" = "turned to stone (rock)" when Andromeda is summoned as a heroic spirit, her chains are attached to Cetus and her NP is basically throwing a giant sea monster on the end of a chain at people.

I was really happy to see you comment on that line of Shirou's as he was falling out of the window, because that's exactly what I was getting at with that comment a few episodes ago about Shirou saying "I don't want to die like that again." Saber interprets it as Shirou being cowardly (focusing on the "I don't want to die" part) but that's not it at all - when he says "I don't want to die [like that]" he means "I don't want to die [without saving anyone]." To him, that's more important than his own life, and you totally hit the nail on the head in that regard when you were talking about it, too. Oh, and as far as the blood summoning circle for Medusa's NP goes, OneTrueReason already explained it pretty well but Pegasus was born from the blood that spilled from Medusa's neck after Perseus beheaded her. That's how she was able to be summoned in the Rider class, because conceptually "Medusa's blood" = "Pegasus". (Similarly, she can also be summoned in the Saber class because Chrysaor was also born from her blood)

Lex Garrett

Also, as a reminder, yes, Medusa was bleeding and we see her use her blood to draw the summoning circle midair while fighting Saber Alter in Heaven's Feel.

OneTrueReason

deen version is the only one where we have true saber and not the butcher version invented for zero

azope

Okay, so Medusa needs to draw her own blood in order to summon Pegasus. The name of her Noble Phantasm, Bellerophon, is the name of the golden reigns she uses to control it, not of the pegasus itself. As for to WHY did she stab herself through the neck... well, yeah, that is indeed a little extra. But as the summoning circle needs to be drawn entirely out of her own blood, you could say quite a few blood is needed. And no, the damage is obviously not permanent, they're Servants for god's sake, just some magical energy and she's as good as new. Also, context for Bellerophon, he was a Greek hero renowned for taming Pegasus with reigns fashioned from chains made out of gold. Medusa just has a mythological connection to Pegasus as it was born from Medusa's blood after Perseus beheaded her.

An interesting thing that happened in the VN that I think is wery intresting: When Shirou was kicked out of the window, you can choose to refuse summoning Saber, which leads to a bad end. However, neither the fall nor Rider killed Shirou—it was actually his own body transforming into a mass of swords, similar to Heaven's Feel.
