“Frieren the Slayer” is a meaningful play on words in Japanese. Sōsō no Furīren in Japanese translates to Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End for the name of the series itself. But translated literally ‘Sōsō no Furīren’ means Frieren the Slayer, or Frieren at the Funeral. Because to demons, Frieren is literally the end of their journey, in being alive terms.
