2024-11-09 07:15:29 +0000 UTCSince the subs put in a note for Byakuya's comment about "Tensho" being an arrogant name because it means "heaven piercer," I realised it might be interesting for you to know some of the cool meanings behind some techniqe names. - "Getsuga Tensho" means "Moon Fang Heaven Piercer" - "Zangetsu" means "Slaying Moon" - "Senbonzakura" means "Thousand cherry tree blossoms" Kubo also loves giving techniques names that have similar meanings between multiple languages using kanji puns. For example, a lot of Quincy techniques have dual meanings in German and Japanese. The "Letzt Stil" that Uryu used to defeat Mayuri means "Last Style" in German, but it's written using the Japanese kanji for "Final Form"
