Yeah tbh this is a great way of teaching us how great of a difference it is between a captain a lieutenant or any squad mates

Long version taken from the Bleach Wiki: "The Saketsu (鎖結, Binding Chain) on a Shinigami is just as important as the Chain of Fate is on a Plus. While there is no chain per se connected to a Shinigami, the area where the Chain of Fate was originally is still just as important as when the Shinigami was a simple soul. In a Shinigami, the Saketsu acts as a boost to spiritual power, in conjunction with the Hakusui (魄睡, Soul Sleep), the source of spiritual power. These two points are commonly considered pressure points. If they are pierced, they seal up this spiritual power, and the Shinigami will lose all their power. The Shinigami who experiences this will never be a Shinigami again."

2024-10-18 05:36:51 +0000 UTCAs much as I feel bad for Chad getting squashed, I do think his fight against Kyōraku fulfils an excellent narrative role of ramping up the tension even more for Ichigo vs Kenpachi. After all, we just saw Chad easily one-shot a 3rd seat - theoretically the same rank as Ikakku, who gave Ichigo a pretty tough fight - and then get just as easily one-shot in return by a captain. And now we're cutting back to Ichigo fighting not just a captain, but the one we've been told is the most vicious and bloodthirsty of the 13 captains. As if everything else about Kenpachi wasn't intimidating enough, it just serves to really hammer home just how much stronger the captains are than anyone else.
