2024-10-10 03:43:36 +0000 UTCFor the three main parings, Shirou x Saber > Shirou x Rin > Shirou x Sakura. Gilgamesh is great in Zero but isn't well written in UBW or Heaven's Feel. In terms of MCs, Shirou > Kiritsugu >>> Ritsuka >> Sieg > Hakuno. I wish Shinji was a more interesting character rather than just being comically evil in each route

2024-10-08 05:06:12 +0000 UTCHere’s my irl hot take (which I actually believe). The Eng anime dub for UBW and HF are on the same level, if not superior in some cases, to the og cast. Idk why the Shirou eng VA (voice actor) gets so much hate, he’s fine. Rin and Gil are the same level of quality in both. Sakura’s eng VA is superior (not a hot take tbh). And for the real heat… Kirei’s eng VA is better than his JA. Not because Kirei’s og VA is bad, but because the eng dub VA is a better fit for his character.

2024-10-08 04:54:30 +0000 UTCHere’s one that’s less a hot take and more respect for the con. Nasu has gotten away with rewriting the same characters in a lot of the mainline TM stories. Main heroine who is a supernatural blonde European with a royal title who is op but nerfed due to her connection with the MC. I just described Arcueid and Saber. MC named shiki who has the mystic eyes of death perception who has a spiritual connection with other entities named SHIKI. Am I talking about Ryougi or Tohno? Supporting heroine who has an unhealthy level of affection for their relative, the MC, and has the ability to control flames or heat with magic / magecraft. This is both Azaka from Garden of Sinners and Akiha from Tsukihime. Take away the fire stuff and it fits Illya too. Fujino Asagami from Garden of Sinners and Sakura from Fate are the same, excluding the blindness. The maids from Tsukihime are basically Sakura split into two characters.

Rin only gets into a relationship with Shirou as a way to save at least one version of Emiya from making the mistakes that lead him to suffering as Archer had. Notice how much more concern she shows towards Archer in UBW than Shirou. She did all she could to get Archer back from Caster even after he betrayed her (and she acts very broken hearted after he did). She makes Lancer promise not to kill him when they went back to fight Caster again. She saw his past and she more scolded him for doing all he had done but didn't really seem to be concerned about Archer killing Shirou in of itself only that it was stupid. And after they destroyed the Grail, she doesn't hesitate to run to Archer and beg him to make a contract with her again so that maybe he'd be free. Keep in mind, she didn't know Shirou was even alive. He was fighting Gilgamesh after all and burned through her mana yet she was more worried about Archer. And then after Archer asks her to look out for his past self, she agrees so that maybe at least one version of him won't fall down that path. Whether she genuinely develops feelings for Shirou later on is kind of irrelevant as it seems to be more because he's the surrogate for Archer since he's TECHNICALLY the same person. In pretty much every spin off, the two seem to be closer to friends than love interests tbh. Prillya is kind of the only exception but that's a weird series anyway. Even in Hollow Ataraxia which is kind of a sequel to FSN, them being in a relationship kinda only exists in the H scene (which there are a few with Saber, Sakura and Rider too) but this sequel kinda treats all routes as Canon so there isn't really a love interest. Pretty much any of the spin offs that have Archer still alive, Rin does not pursue Shirou.

2024-10-07 15:44:23 +0000 UTCFate/Apocrypha is actually really good and super underrated. It does a lot of cool interesting stuff with world building and character writing. It also plays with foreshadowing and expectations in a really fun way. Prisma Illya is easily top 3 Fate projects, the way it expands the lore of the Nasuverse despite being a magical girl spin off is insane. It has some of the best fights and character moments in the franchise. Most of the gender-bends have great and or interesting reasons for it, people just dont want to put in the effort to research why it was done Despite having a great story FGO is a bad game and people would not put up with the game if it was any other IP other than Fate. People are just have Stockholm syndrome with it at this point. (Me I have Stockholm syndrome with FGO) Camelot > Babylonia, specifically the game versions

The first two routes were boring as hell, it's got a generic post-Boogiepop urban fantasy setting (although KnK is so similar to Boogiepop that it's about half a step away from just being Boogiepop fanfiction), and Neko Arc wasn't nearly as funny as the author thought it was. I grow tired of the community acting like liking Fate means you have to automatically have some kind of allegiance toward Tsukihime, too. I read it back in the 00s during my visual novel kick, and even then I could tell Fate/Stay Night was leaps and bounds the better of the two. Also, Prisma Illya TV is the most faithful animated adaption of any Fate work.

I agree that you can skip like the first 6 episodes of Zwei Herz, as it's just beach episode nonsense, but the introduction of Kuro, Bazett, Caren and Kid Gil are relevant to the plot.

2024-10-07 13:06:06 +0000 UTCIt definetly is, I've watched the Prisma Illya series twice now and, though by far the worst offender is the second season, first and third seasons take themselves pretty seriously. (with the exception of some scenes in certain episodes such as 1, 7, 9, 12, 15, 21 and a few others, but there's at least a couple sus scenes in every season, but mostly played for comedic purposes). Other than that, the series is actually really enjoyable and the power structure actually being really well built. Moreover, the manga rn is in apocalyptic levels of threat and having some peak scenes. If only the manga wasn't being updated SOOO slowly.

2024-10-07 06:50:35 +0000 UTCThis is the only take I can think of for new and older fans who haven’t touched the content: the Prisma Illya series should only be watched for JUST THE FIGHTS, SERVANTS, LUVIA, BAZETT, AND NOTHING ELSE. (The story good ig but my soul is irreversibly damaged and tainted for thinking it would’ve similar to Stay Night/UBW but from Illya’s pov😓)
