I don't believe an official reason was ever given but back in the day a lot anime only existed as adds for the manga so once the manga finished mabey they saw no point in finding more of it, that's my theory anyway

It's inspired by 1001 Arabian Nights, the Disney movie Aladain is inspired by it too, hence the names of characters being the same. It's two 25 episode season and a 13 ep prequel called Adventure of Sinbad, unfortunately it never finished adapting the manga, which sucks cause the arc Season 3 would have covered is one of my favs.
