But I must ask you guys since I trust you all more than anyone else on the internet, what's the controversy with this anime? It seems to get A LOT of hate from what I see on twitter. I'd love to hear your guys' opinions on this show!

2024-07-18 01:14:32 +0000 UTCOh 100% MC is a mage and many of companions and party members are powerful warriors, it has a very detailed power system of magic and sword styles, there is no big bad villain so far but lots of smaller conflicts he has to deal with, there are lots of fights and battles, especially in the second half of season 1

2024-07-17 22:53:57 +0000 UTCNo one will knock the series for animation quality or world building. But there’s gotta be good isekai out there that have less controversial MCs. I can’t accept how gross the MC was in his previous life (and for a long time in his reincarnated life!) and his hero’s journey and personal growth in light of how many perks he’s given in his new one. Plus, since it’s isekai, the MC comes to the new world as a baby with his 30-something NEET otaku mind and memories from his past life intact, which makes his sus behavior in the new world really hard to take imo. It really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

2024-07-17 21:42:19 +0000 UTCMC starts of pretty shitty, prior to being reborn he's unemployed, a shut in, a leech on his family and the kinda guy who would watch Prillya specifically for the fanservice. He is for all intents and purposes a man child, but the series is about him getting a second chance at life to actually do something with it, it's slow going and follows him from birth to adulthood as he slowly becomes a better person and a contributing member of society It does have some the best world building, character writing and animation I've seen in anime and is in my personal top 10,

People don't like it because it depicts a genuinely bad person learning and redoing his life in another world and try and do better
