2024-03-02 01:43:48 +0000 UTCHe is definitely a massive psychopath, but also a charming one. He himself stated in HF, what he finds pleasure and joy is the opposite of the norm. This contradicted heavily with his church upbringing and eventually led him to question his own existence and purpose. He is pure evil (self-aware) but he doesn't commit evil just for the sake of it. I guess this contradiction and his journey to understand himself better (which eventually led to his death) is why many people, myself included, adore Kirei. Kinda the same with Gilgamesh. I love him, and I also love to see him getting a headshot in UBW.

This Kirei hasn't realize he found joy in killing people 'just yet' while in HF you watched (10 years after Zero) Kirei already knew that he himself is a psychopath. As you have watched HF, It's safe to remind you that Angra Mainyu (Avenger) was summoned and corrupted the grail since the 3rd HGW. His goals are to get revived and curse all mankind. Therefore, in Zero (4th HGW), he was responsible for summoning illegal (evil-nature) servant such as Caster. Also, he (corruptly) chooses Kirei to be a master again as their goals are aligned (find joy in killing people). Kirei will surely win the grail and revive him 100%. (In Hf, the dying Kirei looks forward to witness the birth of Angra Mainyu and fights with Shirou to protect him) Gil and Angry Mango know Kirei is a psychopath. Kirei himself doesn't realize who he really is just yet.
