Mile High

Nervously waiting in front of the line. A girl in a wheelchair is standing there leaning on a bag thats on her legs. She plays with her hair and looks around to her side. A guy is sitting there in the airport waiting area with his headphone on. He is sitting near the desk. A long line is behind the girl in the wheelchair. He is not in a hurry and just sits there waiting till everybody is on board. He tries not to stare so now and then he looks on his phone or to the line of people. But she can feel he is watching her. She notices it and she is not afraid to flirt with him. As soon as he looks up she smiles and he quickly looks away when he sees it. They go on back and forth. Until the stewards come to guide her into the airplane. He sees it al happening from a distance. One man carries the bag she had on her lab. The second man holds the doors open for her. Like a princess she is guided through a hall that is connected to the plane. As the long line of people follows this guy also gets up and follows into the airplane. On his way in he sees the wheelchair standing before entering the airplane, the stewardesses great him kindly and he walks slowly as the people in front of him take their seats. He tries to discover where the girl in the wheelchair went. Left, right.. left, right. Where is that girl? As he walks all the way to the back he notices her hair and feels exited when he finds out his seat is near hers. She is seated next to the window and his seat is located directly after hers, also next to the window. She looks up while he puts his bag into the storage above her seatrow and she says hi. Each row has 3 seats and the ones next to hers are empty. He smiles, says hey and sits down in his seat. Next to him one guy joins him but the seat between him and thia guy stays empty. The stewardesses do the usual safety instructions and check if everybody is positioned correctly. The plane takes off. The guy one seat away falls asleep with his headphones on and a sleeping mask. The girl from the wheelchair has long hair, as she flips it, it somehow gets between the seat and the window. He noticed it and reaches one arm towards her shoulder. She looks back and he say “you hair is so long i can braid it for you from here. She giggles and says sorry. He leans till his face is between her seat and the window. She looks right in his eyes and says “why don’t you come sit next to me?”. He is surprised but says that he has an obstacle next to him sleeping. She says “too bad”. And while he sits back in his seat, he feels like he wants to be there but he is also a little confused. He didn’t expect that. So a few minutes later her hand hands a magazine over to him. He grabs it from between the seats. He opens it and a note falls out. It says: Hey Handsome! Then her hands appears again with a pen. He takes it and writes back on the piece of paper: Hey beauty, how is life at your side?. He hands her the magazine with the paper and pen inside back. After a minute or 3 the paper and pen come back without the magazine. Underneath his written part it says: It’s boring, and we have a couple of hours to go. It would be nice getting to know you.

He replies: I would love to, maybe I can find a way to go to leave this row. But until then, can you tell me your name Miss Mysterious.

Great, I’m looking forward. My name is Estella. What’s yours?

My name is Chris. Where are you from Estella?

I’m from Holland and you? What are you going to do in New York?

Germany. I’m going on a trip by myself but also to visit a friend. You?

End of paper. New one.

I’m a model, I need to work. Where are you staying?

Cool! I will stay in Brooklyn. And just explore the whole city. For 14 days.

I will stay only 7 days. I have 2 days off in between. I will be in Newark.

The stewardesses offer drinks and the guy sleeping and snoring is waking up. Here is his chance, he politely asks if he could pass and get out row. The guy gets up and lets him by. He walks to the toilet and is a little nervous. Now he has the chance to go and sit next to her. When he comes back she is eating some m&m’s and looking through the magazine. His former neighbor wants to get up to let him back to his seat but he says; Its alright I will just sit her. He joins he girl in her row and takes the seat next to her. She welcomes him with a smile and reaches out his hand to meet hers but she looks at him and says: Hi Chris, we’re not strangers and she puts her hand on his knee.

She is a flirt. Her hair is now in a ponytail and she lift her legs up with her hands. She looks at him and says: You might have noticed me before, in a wheelchair right?

‘Yes, I couldn’t keep my eyes of you’ he replies. She smiles and her cheeks turn slightly red.

I don’t like flying so I always look for company she admits.

‘Oh so I’m not that special!?’He says and laughs.

She says: ‘You might be. I never had suck a connection with anyone before.’

They are both smiling and the stewardesses come by to collect the garbage. One of the stewardesses noticed he changed seats and says: ‘I would also exchange a guy in for this girl’. And they all laugh.

She is wearing a dress and has stockings on. She took he shoes off and her collarbones show. She says: ‘I’m a little cold, could you grab a sweater out of my bag?’

‘Yes, of course’ he says.

He stands up asks which one his hers. ‘The blue one with the yellow label. The red sweater’ she says.

He takes out the bag, put it on the seat. He opens it, as she watches him. He takes out the red sweater and hands it to her. Their eyes meet and their hands touch.

Her bag smells like perfume. He closes it and puts it back. She tries to put the sweater on but loses her balances and falls with her head towards the seat in front her. It’s cute to see her struggle but he quickly helps to pull the sweater over her head. Her face is red and she thanks him.

He asks about her disability and she explains. ‘I can’t feel below my chest and I can’t move. I was injured 2 years ago after an accident.’

He is just amazed how positive she seems to be. He feels comfortable and it talk for a few hours. After a while she even lays her head down on his shoulder as he shows some pictures on his phone to her.

The guy in the row behind them seems to be sleeping the whole flight. They have 3 hours to go. A movie is playing on the tv screens but they are only interested in each other.

He notices her nice hands and compliments her. She grabs his hand while her head is on his shoulder looking up. As he moves his head down their lips are so close they can feel each others breath.

The tension is so intense. She brings his hand to her legs. He whispers: ‘your legs are beautiful, your face is beautiful’. She giggles and leans in to his head. They kiss and his hand squeezes her thigh gently. Her skinny legs feel soft but she doesn’t feel anything.
