Friend in Need

She pulled her feet towards her using her hands. She tried putting her legs close to her body while sitting on the sofa. She looked at her wheelchair as if she had never sit in it before. Being disabled now is very different from the life she used to live. Her closed friends are now online connections with people she never met. Her disability took away a big part of her freedom. She would never walk out the door and spontaneously go on an adventure. Knowing she would be home a lot of the time, she decided to join a online platform to somehow not feel alone, while being alone.
The months passed and she celebrated her first year after becoming disabled. She cant walk, move or feel her legs. She is angry at the universe to put her in this position but not only that. She knows she is so lucky to be alive. That is what she tells her new friends online. They chat about struggles, feelings and future plans.
One of the people told her recently he is attracted to her and her wheelchair. And she doesn’t understand but also isn’t freaked out. She keeps her calm and tries not to judge. This guy who told her was afraid to scare her but she is not scared of that. He seemed genuine and had respected her in every other way so she did not feel the urge to be scared even though its unusual.
He told her he was happy and felt relieved. She just wondered what it might feel like to have this attraction but she couldn’t get her mind around it. The months passed and they stayed in touch. They didn’t really mentioned it until one day. She was online and received a disturbing comment from some internet troll. The message was rude and unnecessary. She felt angry and upset about this and turned to her devotee friend for advise. Why do people do this? Why do people want to hurt people they don’t know?
