15. Stay on Capital

King's Landing,

Daeranyx POV

I gaze upon their astonished faces with amusement in my eyes. At least they are aware of the five major houses of Valyria. It's understandable, as these houses were nearly as famous as Valyrian steel and the Black stone of Valyria, having been the inventors and creators of such items. While it is not my house, the knowledge was bestowed upon my house in honor of the alliance formed between our houses thousands of years ago. However, the alliance barely lasted fifty years before the two houses were at odds once more.

Recovering from their astonishment, Lord Coryls responded respectfully, "It is our pleasure to meet a man of such distinguished lineage. However, you must forgive us for requesting some form of evidence to substantiate your claim in our minds. It is not that one would jest about such matters." He truly possessed a merchant's eloquence, as he requested proof of my heritage without causing offense.

It is to be expected as sailing across most of the known world would at least bestow exceptional communication skills, given the need to interact with various peoples. What should I display to them without disclosing too much? The dragon horn could work, but it might make them wary of me. While magic is scarce in this world, it doesn't automatically grant the right to claim a higher lineage. Even so, my story seems more fantastical than the long night. Because I'm telling them that I am over two hundred years old and have survived the catastrophe that destroyed the greatest empire they've ever known, all without basic necessities. Their limited understanding of what magic can do certainly doesn't help my case either.

"I understand your skepticism regarding my claim. But what could I possibly present from Valyria that you would recognize? If my entire Valyrian armor is not sufficient," I said. It appears that in the heat of the moment, they failed to notice that my armor is made entirely of Valyrian steel. Oh, I am relishing this more than I had anticipated. The expressions on their faces have amused me immensely. After recovering from yet another astonishing revelation, they regained their composure and began to ponder what they would like to see from Valyria.

I must say, a face graced with Valyrian beauty and a look of deep contemplation suits Rhaenyra well. I've seen memories where the most beautiful Valyrian women vie for Daeranyx's attention, hoping to align their houses with the Drakonars through marriage. She may not surpass them in beauty, but she is still stunning. Observing memories from someone else's perspective differs vastly from witnessing events with your own eyes. Daemon still glares at me with some anger, though it lacks the fiery rage he exhibited before. It seems his passion for the Valyrian heritage of his family has tempered his anger towards me. Viserys is happy; it's evident in his eyes, though he restrains it from showing on his face. After all, the eyes, chico, they never lie. I've longed to utter that line. Viserys maintains the composure befitting a king. Corlys's face betrays no emotion, and his gaze sizes me up, assessing how he might best leverage the situation to his advantage.

"I have come bearing a gift, which I intend to present after witnessing the fate of the last Dragonlords of Valyria. During my travels, I've learned much about your king's desire to know more about Valyria. At its zenith, Valyria was renowned for many marvels, such as dragons, Valyrian steel, and black stone, which are more celebrated than others. However, there were numerous other wonders in Valyria that have yet to be replicated, even two hundred years after its fall." Amidst my speech, I retrieve the shrunken suitcase and restore it to its original size. Reaching into the suitcase, I intend to extract the framed painting from my room in Valyria.

It's a painting of Valyria, depicted from atop one of its towering volcanoes. My father had a passion for collecting artwork, cherishing each piece dearly. Thus, he transported the era's finest artist to the mountain's summit on his dragon to capture the essence of Mother Valyria in a painting. While I doubt this is the sole existing portrayal of Valyria in paintings or tapestries, those who possess such art would likely cling to it tenaciously.

All lords and ladies' eyes widened as I pulled out a painting, twice the size of the suitcase, from the aforementioned object. I handed the painting to a nearby Kingsguard to present it to Viserys. Viserys then instructed the Kingsguard to stand at a distance so he could view the entire painting. Immediately, the other Targaryens and Corlys, unable to contain their curiosity, gathered around Viserys. Upon seeing the painting, expressions of awe adorned their faces. After a moment of admiration, they returned to their previous positions. Viserys continued to gaze at the painting as a man would upon discovering water in a desert.

"We have now no doubts regarding your claims, Lord Drakonar, not that there were any to begin with. I would like to extend the hospitality of our keep to you. We can discuss Valyria further after you have rested, as traveling by dragon comes with its own set of challenges." As he spoke, the surrounding lords and ladies began to disperse, whispering amongst themselves. Once the last of them had left the room, Viserys instructed one of the King's Guard to lead me to my quarters. I offered him a grateful nod, for that was all he would receive from me; I would not kneel, for he wielded no power over me, and I was not his subject.

As the King's guard led me to the room, I was impressed by its grandeur, reserved for guests of high status such as the lord paramount of their region. The room was adorned with the finest luxuries the medieval era could offer. Upon entering, I inquired of a King's guard about the possibility of a bath. He assured me he would attend to it and departed in the direction from whence we came. I proceeded to inspect the room, and upon completion, I stood on the balcony which afforded a splendid view of the city. While I was taking in the view, some servants arrived and began to prepare my bath.

After expressing my gratitude and informing the maids that I wouldn't require their assistance but would call upon them if needed, I settled into the bathtub to contemplate my next move. Observing Rhaenyra's age and Daemon's presence in King's Landing, I surmised that Aemma must still be alive and likely to give birth soon, her absence from the throne room possibly indicating as much.

Saving Aemma would earn me the gratitude and favor of both Viserys and Rhaenyra, as they hold Aemma in great affection and would be indebted to anyone who could spare her from death. Aemma is depicted in the show and the books as a kind-hearted individual, sacrificing her life for Viserys to secure an heir, albeit without her consent. If I were to let her die, Rhaenyra would likely be named heir, assuming the timeline remains largely unchanged from what I know. Viserys, knowing even a fraction of my capabilities, would eagerly unite our lines. By accepting his proposal, I would ascend to the role of king consort, binding myself to the Seven Kingdoms.

It would be a cold day in hell before I tie myself to the seven kingdoms and become merely a king consort, especially when I've been granted a second chance. This second chance in life comes with gifts that could make me the most powerful individual in the world over time. If I were to settle for merely being the King consort with all these gifts at my disposal, I would be deemed a fool in the annals of history.

While I harbor no ambitions to conquer the entire world, I aspire to establish an empire that surpasses the Dawn Empire. As  Corlys' would say, "What is this brief, mortal life if not the pursuit of legacy?" I intend to lead a life that is far from brief, if it's within my control. My aim is to leave a legacy that endures as long as intelligent life exists on this planet. Anything less would not suffice. Therefore, binding myself to the Iron Throne is not on my do-list.

To achieve that, I would require an army and allies in this world. However, my purpose here isn't solely for toil; I intend to relish life and garner experiences from my forthcoming travels. My goal is to forge connections with the Targaryens, to explore if we could evolve beyond our current state, to share knowledge, and to observe its impact on the future.

After finishing my bath and dressing in attire befitting my rank, I step out onto the balcony to observe Anarion soaring above the city and the Blackwater Rush. I watch him hunt, and once he's finished, he glides towards the Kingswood for rest. As the sun reaches its zenith, a knock at my door breaks the silence. Upon my permission, a maid enters and informs me that the midday meal is prepared and the Targaryens await my presence. She is here to escort me to them.

Having secured the sword to my belt, I began to follow the maid. Let's see what Targaryen's has to offer me?

I think it could work using more magical animals now granted don't go crazy with it for water based you could go with a hydra call it a type of sea dragon its amphibious so good on both land and sea has rapid regeneration acidic blood acidic venom it can spit like a spitting cobra as well as the ability to breath fire from 7 heads could also make an ice version and the MC should get ice dragons from the shivering sea they are said to be 3 times the size of valyrian fire dragons and can freeze things with their frost breath which would be useful for trapping ships or making a temporary bridge or to take out soldiers in a city because ice won't spread like fire Also he needs a monsterous calvery like the dracolisk from age of sigmar its a small dragon with out wings that is larger than a rhino but smaller than an elephant they can breath fire and lightning you could also make gryphons or drakes which is a flying variant of the dracolisk or pegasus for the air force the drake or the gryphons for ground attack or airborne assault plus teams of them could take down a dragon like a wolf pack bringing down a bear make a way for individuals to bond with them after they take the unbreakable vow then the pegasus would be flying skirmishes all three personally I would go with the drake and pegasus the drake if tougher and hits harder but the pegasus is the fastest and most agile thing in the air with either a bow or enchanted repeater crossbows and can drop bombs and make unicorns just for personal use or make them fast as fuck and use them for light calvary also you could make flying ships with all the usual weapons and bombs make so they can fly or land in the water and sail also you could put armor plating on the outside of all ships could you imagine showing up to a tourny with a flying ship the size of a British warrior class which is a big ass ship from the 1860 it had 706 crew it would be a flying castle practicly he needs to make magic owls like in HP so he doesnt need the measters for ravens and have his lords use the magic mirrors for important stuff or battle as for loyalty have all his ppl make an unbreakable vow just like in harry potter use it like how the military has you take an oath in the real world for anyone who is being given a postion of power or a job in the military or you could use blood magic and use it on some kind of drink and make everyone positions of power drink it binding them and their bloodline from that day forward and it does not need to be slavery or overly complex just make it so they cannot knowingly betray him or his family or the country or territory so long as he does not knowingly betray his oaths to them I would give aemma, rhaenyra and rhaenys a unicorn and pegasus but for the unicorn I'm talking a real one not the goats on skagos and give each stark a dire wolf that can use a frost breath like an ice dragon and is bigger than Destriers then maybe make thunder wolves for himself just like the dire wolves he makes for the Starks but can breath ice and lightning or just lightning could use them for light Calvary instead of the unicorns if that's more your cup of tea call them thunder wolf Calvary maybe gift the Starks enough dire wolves to make a large Calvary unit by teaching them how to train them like dogs for the troops or teach the sharks to make their ppl make unbreakable vows of loyalty but make it so the gift creatures can only breed with their own kind so if the targaryns want more unicorns or pegasus they gonna have to get them from him or a breeding pair from him

First thing first Thank you about giving this suggestion. And yes I’ll take examples from the best in our world for his army. But I am thinking about Empire that would be more magical as I’m more fantasy guy but I’ll enter as much as military tactics because we’ve not seen the true might of Yi-Ti so it should be easy for me to make them overpowered and you know the cliche War. But it would take time and it would take lot because for making Empire and training the army to this level without implanting loyalty would be recipe for disaster. And I was thinking along the lines that there is Air force you know dragons and for Navel force I would like to make some more magical animal what do you think about that would it ruin the story ?? If I make this world full of magical creatures.

For your military you need a standing professional army and navy for your army is would suggest for Calvary 2 kinds first light Calvary/horse archers modelled after the Mongols they would be great for recon and harassing the enemy or going deep behind enemy lines to perform Calvary raids burning fields food storage destroying bridges, supply lines taking out enemy patrols Mongol war bands would give each rider six horses they would rotate riding thus allowing them to travel something like 250miles in a day give them a saber for fighting lightly armored opponents then a mace/war pick/hammer for armored opponents many ppl don't realize when fighting heavily armoured opponents a sword is not ideal because you have to thrust between the joints or at the visor which is slot harder than you think the listed weapons above are the best for defeating armor in melee then either a large bowie knife or seax knife both are good at chopping and thrusting and are a utility knife they are good for killing and doing things like chopping brush and wood and so forth they are a weapon and a tool then give them a 14 inch blade this would make them a great close quarters weapon then give them a dagger with an 8 inch blade for more precise work these two knives should be standard for all troops regardless of what they are you could also give them a heavier weapon in the form of a glaive like a naginata or a Chinese guandoa glaives could also be used by the heavy calvary then they need a good bow or crossbow depending on if you wanna go big with the magic if you want less magic go with either a Mongol recurved composite bow a good one could fire an arrow with damn near the same level of knockdown power as a 7.62rifle or you could go with a compound bow now granted these could both be copied by others and you could use runes for everything for crossbow I would save that for infantry only unless you are gonna go big with magic if you do I would do a repeating reverse compound crossbow use a rune matrix to automatically pull back the string and cock it then give it small magazines that would only be big enough to hold 1 bolt but make it like a bag of holding so it carries something along the lines of 500 bolts per magazine you could either make it semi automatic or select fire meaning it can switch between semi 2 shout burst or full auto at lets say 500 shots per minute granted if that is too much you could lower it to 250 to 300 shots a minute you could also make a pistol version that fired six inch bolts which would be a huge advantage Calvary could fire them on the charge like the winged hussars would sometimes to soften up the enemy after they had used up their lances they would be useful for officers or your infantry could form a shield wall or spanish tercio and shoot the enemy as they come in or advance and for your archers whether they be mounted or not they should learn both the Mongolian and the parthian style archery the Mongolian is better suited for horse back while the parthian you hold 3 arrows at a time and can fire all 3 in just as many seconds for example Lars Andersen (born 8 November 1964) is a Danish painter and archer. Claiming to hold a world record for speed, he is able to shoot 10 arrows in 4.9 seconds, or 3 arrows in 0.6 seconds and he can do so accurate by with the parthian style on foot then give them good metal lamellar armor preferably made out of valyrian steel they need very good horses the kind that are fast and have good endurance your best bet would be dothraki horses then buy some dornish sand steeds for their great endurance and start a breed program then get some Destriers for the heavy Calvary maybe mix all three for the heavy Calvary, for said heavy Calvary since Knights are an andal thing go with winged hussars or catraphractii and for them once again the saber plus the knives and the mace/hammer/war pick plus a lance the polish winged hussars discovered that a hollow lance is actually more structurally sound then a solid one and is lighter so it can be made longer giving the hussars a reach advantage over pike men and if you go with the enchanted repeater crossbows give them the pistol version as well and give all of you soldiers cleats that was one of the biggest advantages the Romans had because with cleats its slot harder to push someone around also the cheval de frise (plural: chevaux de frise) was a medieval defensive anti-cavalry measure consisting of a portable frame (sometimes just a simple log) covered with many projecting long iron or wooden spikes or spears this along with caltrops as well as barbed wire and punji steak traps and simple small holes in the ground and trenches would be great defensive measures also you should follow the Roman doctrine of when in the field stop marching a few hours before dusk and build a Roman field fort for the night onto infantry for heavy I would give them either full plate plate mail or full huaberk with partial plate on the shoulders and from the elbow and knee down then use the early Spanish tercio formation make the outer 2 lines sword and shield if its valyrian steel then a Roman scutum shield if not valyrian steel then go with a heater shield or Viking round shield or Spartan shield then give them a ranged weapon either 2 pilum like the Romans or a repeater crossbow pistol for the melee primary I would do either a Messer sword ,a falchion or a Egyptian khopesh I prefer the khopesh because its called the sickle axe sword for a reason it has the cleaving power of comparable to an axe the tip is in line with the grip making it good at thrusting so long as you are not trying to pierce a joint in heavy armor in said case you would be better off using a mace/hammer/war pick or if you could not change out using the khopesh to target the joints with cleaving attacks or ring his helmet and the curve of the blade is designed so you can hook the edge of a shield and yank it away from them or temporarily out of the way or you could go with something like a Zulu short spear or another of my favorites the Celtic leaf shaped long sword unlike a medieval long sword which can be used with one or two hands two being more common due to the weight the Celtic leaf shaped long sword is a one handed sword like the arming sword with the leaf shaped tip the blade is heavier and the slight curve plus the weight makes it better at chopping than a arming sword and makes a bigger stab wound now its not as good at targeting armor joints but as I said if you are fighting a knight or someone in heavy armor you want one of the 3 previously listed can openers for their sidearm melee weapon you want a mace/hammer then the core of the formation will have the same equipment but no shield and for their primary weapon either a pike or a halberd if you do pikes if you go with a long pike like a 14ft sarrissa you get reach but its harder to maneuver while a 10 to 12 ft short pike means less reach but better mobility if you do halberds go with a mix of halberds and pole axes look up on YouTube about the tercio their is a ton of vids you could use to learn how to apply them and the melee sidearm would be a sword of some type the second type of heavy infantry you could call the first type of heavy infantry pike men or halberdiers the second type call them shock troops or shock troopers for shock assault tactics give them a large shield like a scutum or kite shield then some kind of one handed sword and a hammer or mace for primary then the second type of shock troops get a zweihander for cleaving through enemies or cutting the spear heads of a pike wall for light infantry rangers they get lamellar preferably valyrian with plate helmet and plate from the knee down and elbow to wrist in case they need to use a bow or crossbow and plate pauldrons for their shoulders give them access to tomahawks lets say 5 per man for throwing or several throwing knives or plumbata for a shield a heater shield or a targe or an Italian Renaissance Style Metal Shield for a primary melee some kind of falchion ,Messer or khopesh you want a sword good at cleaving in case they need to use it like a machete for moving through heavy brush then a hammer or mace for anti armor also make some forgo the shield for bows or crossbows and if you go with the enchanted repeater crossbows give them all crossbow pistols and if you made magical grenades go with stick grenades since you can make bundle grenades by tying multiple together and if they habe good cover or are defending a fortified position they can put a brittle cast iron sheath over the grenade turning it from an explosive grenade which has very little shrapnel to a drag grenade which has a lot of shrapnel but you need good cover to use frags safely then make a dedicated grenadier infantry with heavy armor whom you could mix into your tercio formations and have them throw grenades into the enemy lines or to help shock troops clear buildings also you should make a magical flash bang if you go with enchanted weapons it would be real useful for city fights to reduce civilian casualties or in hostage situations then for artillery make a repeating scorpion similar to the one the dwarves in the battle of the five armies movie had on their chariots but make it use runes to operate to ensure they can't be reverse engineered use that like a heavy machine gun and then make a heavier version to shoot spear sized bolts you could make different types of bolts for example an explosive bolt for killing infantry shooting fortifications and ships you could also make anti dragon bolts meant to explode once they penetrate the scales thus do damage internally like an armor piercing high explosive round and make it so if the shot will miss it will still explode if it gets close to the dragon like a proximity anti air round or after a set distance so it does not fall on some poor bastards head you could also make multi shot bolts useing conjuration runes to turn one bolt into a dozen or thirty after it travels lets say six feet since conjurations in HP usually only last a couple of hours without tying them down with runes since you dont need the conjured nolts for more then the few seconds it takes to travel to the target he needs his own spy net work for the spies he could use blood magic to alter the blood lines of as many ravens as he can get his hands on go around to all the major houses and the citadel and make it so any message that touches one of those ravens is recorded in a magical book or books that his spymasters can check over regularly plus he could give his spies portkeys to help them get around and escape and the talking mirrors to communicate and cloaks of invisiblity and for the navy if non magical then age of sail ships just use scorpions instead of cannons plus a primitive flamethrower like the Byzantine navy if you use magic use the same thing but have rune clusters 2 in front 2 at the rear and 2 on each side to act like a jet ski engine for propulsion and maneuvering it would allow them to turn tighter and turn in place as well as slow down and accelerate faster and go in reverse and move much faster against the wind and if you use runes on the hull to create less drag like having copper plating on the bottom also runes could vastly extend the like of the ship since sea worms ,barnacles and wear and tear wouldn't be an issue then due to magic you could use magic flame throwers and scorpions also make the ships have iron wood hulls and metal ribs and spine he could also rig up magical sea mines that can tell friend from foe using intent based runes the same kind of runes could be used for security if some tries to use any of his or his troops gear it won't work or if its a melee weapon they cant pick it up like mjolner Thor's hammer and if they try to steal something it can teleport back to a secure room along with the theif for money he should make all kinds of booze ,glass, lots of food if he gave house reed rice the north would love him since the neck is one giant marsh ,he could sell ice,and share it with the north he should make salt which he can get through mining or making a salt marsh which he could teach house reed or he could make a simple or magical desalination device to turn salt water into fresh and sell the salt, all kinds of sugar if he set up an industrial complex with blast furnaces and Bessemers he could be making 3 to 5 tons of high quality steel per Bessemer every 20minutes and the process would make coke as a byproduct which is a great fertilizer if he could get some ice spiders from north of the wall or silk worms from yi-ti or naath he could make silk even put temperature control runes on it to keep it cool or warm you could also put this on his troops armor the north men would love armor that keeps them warm in the north and cool in the south also introduce the use of four field crop rotation ,compost ,the seed drill ,the cotton gin ,the McCormick reaper for harvesting, better steel plows, proper irrigation ,cold storage , he could also introduce the potato to the north plus other crops he magically altered for cold weather and build Roman style roads and aquaducts which places like dorne the westerlands and the vale the north could use them to but they would need heating runes to keep them from freezing he can do the same for roads ,homes and even put them on boulders and drop them into a bay with enough of them you could keep a bay from freezing over he could also make temperature control ruins on tents he could sell and regardless of where he settles he could take the step stones maybe use magic to make them combine into one big island that would give him a useful piece of land and allow him to control trade from the east just need to make the toll a fair price

Like the Starks, “Wherever Starks go the North follows.”

Jayraj Rajput

Nah I would make them so strong and respectful among other nations that they’ll not need to hide. That’s why I’m going to made him travel the whole known world and make allies.

Jayraj Rajput

Some thing like they did in Harry Potter where they made a society hidden from people with no magic.

Ace2468

I’ll take all of your opinions and then decide where I would be building said Empire. Though I’ve plans in my mind let’s not think too far for now.

Jayraj Rajput

I don’t know now but It will be glorious that I promise 😏

Jayraj Rajput

What kind of kingdom are you going to make?
