A Sneak Peek at all Legendary Perks

Howdy folks. I've been brainstorming a bit what the other Legendary Perks would be (which is why Year of the Chest #4 has been blank for a while now, sorry about that). To begin with, here are the two that have already been introduced:

Legendary Endurance
Description: A being whose vitality and constitution are the stuff of legends.
Requirements: Reach 1,000 Endurance (END).
Effects: Increases poison and disease resistance by 75%.
Increases stamina recovery rate by 50%.

Legendary Intelligence
Description: A being whose capacity for knowledge and understanding are the stuff of legends.
Requirements: Reach 1,000 Intelligence (INT).
Effects: Increases total magic damage caused by Skills by 50%.
Can recall events experienced in the last 48 hours with extreme clarity and detail.

The idea here was to give these Perks unique bonuses that could not be found anywhere else, or at the very least are extremely rare. The perfect memory thing, for example, is also part of another Skill I have in mind, but they just stack to increase the timer.

So with that in mind, I went about considering what to do with the other ones.

DISCLAIMER: These are just prototypes and are subject to change, but it should serve as a decent enough  baseline to help me plan the story out a bit better in the future.

Legendary Strength
Description: A being whose raw physical might is the stuff of legends.
Requirements: Reach 1,000 Strength (STR).
Effects: Increases base muscle strength by 10%.
Melee physical damage ignores 20% of target’s defenses.

This one was a bit unimaginative as I really couldn't come up with anything fancy. Then again, muscle power is straightforward so it's probably not an issue.

Legendary Dexterity
Description: A being whose finesse and precise movements are the stuff of legends.
Requirements: Reach 1,000 Dexterity (DEX).
Effects: Increases base flexibility and range of motion of all joints by 20%.
Ranged physical damage ignores 20% of the target's defenses.

EDIT: This one was altered after talking things over with Mackoy in the comments. I struggled to come up with worthwhile rewards for this, so I appreciate the input in figuring it out.

EDIT 2: Changed once again to be more in line with the previous one.

Legendary Agility
Description: A being whose speed and flexibility are the stuff of legends.
Requirements: Reach 1,000 Agility (AGI).
Effects: Speed and momentum amplify total melee damage dealt by up to 25%.
Grants the Instant Dash Skill.

Again, pretty straightforward. Agility has always been about mobility so this seems like an apt reward. Would be kind of wasted on flying creatures, but oh well.

EDIT: Changed to increase momentum-based damage and reworded 'double jump' to 'air dash.'

Legendary Wisdom
Description: A being whose analytical thinking and insight are the stuff of legends.
Requirements: Reach 1,000 Wisdom (WIS).
Effects: Increases all XP and Proficiency gains by 10%.
Spells and Skills refund 10% of the MP used.

Both of these buffs are low-key, but extremely valuable in the long run. MP refunding works a bit differently from just straight up cost reduction, and opens up the possibility for some interesting synergies should the user be smart (wise) enough.

That does it for the 'base' Attributes. The advanced ones follow a bit different scoring system since they're much harder to obtain, as only specific Jobs and Skills give them out. That is why they're awarded at either 500 or 750.

Legendary Faith
Description: A being whose belief and devotion to the divines are the stuff of legends.
Requirements: Reach 750 Faith (FTH).
Effects: Increases the effectiveness of all prayers and blessings by 30%.
Absolving Taboo no longer consumes FTH.

I figure if someone this devout considers a lost soul worthy of a second chance, the gods might as well waive the Attribute fee.

Legendary Luck
Description: A being whose uncanny good fortune is the stuff of legends.
Requirements: Reach 500 Luck (LCK).
Effects: Increases the likelihood of randomly gaining LCK.
Grants a chance that incoming ranged attacks will fail.

The source of Minic's powers! I will point out both of those chances are further amplified by Luck, so after a certain point the rich just get richer, as it were. It's a good thing Luck is so stupidly hard to come by that realistically nobody would ever have more than 300 or so.
P.S. Whoever is balancing this system should probably throw in a Luck cap at some point...

Legendary Mentality
Description: A being whose strength of will is the stuff of legends.
Requirements: Reach 750 Mental Fortitude (MNT).
Effects: Spells and Skills that affect the mind can be used on Golems, Demons and Undead at 30% effectiveness.
Reduced the duration of hostile mind control effects by 80%.

Use mind magic on things that are normally either immune or ridiculously resistant to them! Fight the powa! Also being the victim of mind control is not tasty, mmm'kay.

Legendary Charisma
Description: A being whose beauty and influence are the stuff of legends.
Requirements: Reach 500 Charisma (CHR).
Effects: Increases the effectiveness of the CHR Attribute on members of the same species by 50%.
Outer appearance will no longer deteriorate with age.

Well, it's a shallow Attribute so it makes sense the related perk would have shallow effects that would appeal tremendously to shallow people. Too bad Boxxy will never have much use of this, even if it does get there.

Legendary Perception
Description: A being whose senses are the stuff of legends.
Requirements: Reach 500 Perception (PER).
Effects: Reduces the effects of sensory overload by 60%.
Can perceive ambient magical energies.

Being overtly sensitive can be a problem when loud noises and flashbangs are used to incapacitate high Level scouts. Thankfully, this Perk is here to help alleviate some of that. And yes, the second effect does overlap with Boxxy's, but creatures with MLGs are exceptionally rare in this world.

Legendary Affinity
Description: A being whose closeness to and understanding of the natural world are the stuff of legends.
Requirements: Reach 750 Natural Affinity (AFF).
Effects: Reduces the potency of negative effects caused by extreme weather by 50%.
Reduced hostility from wild animals and monsters.

'Where I lay my head is my home.' That's pretty much the logic here.

Legendary Overachiever
Description: A peerless existence beyond all comprehension.
Requirements: Obtain 8 Legendary Attribute Perks.
Effects: The effects of all other Perks are doubled where applicable.
Immunity to the detrimental effect caused by Attribute Overload.

And finally, a little something extra for those that min-max to the extreme. There isn't a perk at 12 Legendary ones because, let's face it, this one is OP enough as it is.

EDIT: As suggested by Calvin Miner, I've added one more thing

EDIT 2: Upped the requirements a bit.

Legendary Heresy
Description:  A being whose willful defiance of the Gods is the stuff of legends.
Requirements: Reach -750 Faith.
Effects: The Taboo Skill permanently becomes locked at Level 20.
Become recognized as a world threat and the target of a Divine Crusade.

Way to put a target on your back, guy! The upside is Taboo does boost the effects of certain heretical practices so it's not all bad.

Comments

you could make the Legendary Agi change the skill to "Inertia Control" or something along those lines, like spontaneously stopping mid dash(or greatly slows down) and spontaneous quick movement. in a nutshell "Dash and Undash"? i guess

Zamir Pestano

Also, does the Legendary Heresy perk count towards the Legendary Overachiever? And also, bump my question about the charisma perk.

Cole Mathews

The list is... slightly out of date. I've had to make a few changes but forgot to update this post, my bad.

Neven Iliev

Two things, why does charisma only have an impact on those of the same species? Secondly, does this mean Boxxy already has the Legendary Overachiever? As of Green Tide 2, looks like it has the STR, DEX, AGI, END, INT, and PER perks.

Cole Mathews

Also doesn’t ridiculous AGI usually make a ridiculous archer?

Ron Jarrell

Hmm, last post got swallowed. For flyers, how about legendary AGI let’s them fly better - like the ability to turn X degrees while ignoring. Pesky things like physics. Stop on a dime, things like that. Would apply to people who can magically fly?

Ron Jarrell

It does not. It's just counted as 0, I guess.

Neven Iliev

How does negative faith effect powercreep?

Alan McBrayer

i’m on my phone and for some reason it won’t let me use reply but anyways the way that you wrote out the legendary charisma perk makes it look like charisma was only about beauty when i was thinking that charisma could be portrayed in many ways, one being able to induce fear.

Fab-sama

Physical beauty is part of it, but it also alters your all around demeanor through body language, expressions, inflections, the weight of your words, etc. It's pretty vague and can be rather subtle, but long story short Charisma makes your more likeable and convincing. Its vital for anyone wishing to move the hearts and minds of others, such as Bards performing a play/song, lords addressing their subjects or, indeed, dictators.

Neven Iliev

Yea like the guy fron runelords with all the Glamor.

drag0nreb0rn

does charisma only define beauty? what about a tyrant who can lead an army and inspire his soldiers?

Fab-sama

Ok, I edited it in the original post, I think I'm pretty happy with it.

Neven Iliev

I guess I could do something similar to Leg. Int. and have it just amplify the effects of more bodily Skills. Seems like the best way to go about it.

Neven Iliev

Apologies for the split up messages; typing on my phone is so tedious cuz of autocorrect and the lack of shift+enter.

Mackoy

So it should save some stamina but endurance is already doing 50% regen rate of that so the take I was going with the amplified Phys actives and passives is more to do with critical movements. A bit like an LED bulb wouldn't heat up as quick as a filament bulb because less electrical energy is wasted to heat energy but is instead converted into extra light energy.

Mackoy

That does sound good if some martial arts had a cast time but that is so Wuxia like. Anyway, if strength is the power of muscles, agility is the ability to change movement of muscle, dexterity is allowing you to apply the right amount of strength and agility, sort of like the body's wisdom.

Mackoy

Increases the speed at which Martial Arts can be performed by 15%. Increases base flexibility and range of motion of all joints by 20%. Something like this for Leg. Dex. perhaps?

Neven Iliev

It overlaps a bit with Agility though, that's the problem. I suppose you could say Dexterity is about minute movements while Agility is more about speed and athletics, so this could work. I need to think about it some more to be sure.

Neven Iliev

Umm, I think it would make more sense for Leg. Dex. to be more like wisdom, but more for physical. Like amplify effects of Phys actives by 15% and passives by 30%. Also instead of just the arms, wrists and finger joints, maybe greater degree of freedom for all muscles or appendages (for beings with no arms). While perception handles information, dexterity handles transformation (when body is in movement, it's in a state of change - I can go deeper but it would be a long rant)

Mackoy

I see Boxy being an overachiever soon...lol

drag0nreb0rn

Ok, I think I came up with a fairly decent Legendary Heresy Perk. I can definitely use this in the future.

Neven Iliev

looks pretty good overall, the only thing I could think to add would be a perk for hitting -750 faith, as that seems like a rather popular path for the morally disinclined
