Ghostbusters 2016 (Movie Reaction)

Comments

I had fun for sure. I may have to force my husband to watch this at some point. He's heard the bad reviews and refuses to watch it at all. He LOVES the original ghostbusters.

Reds Reactions

Ghostbusters 2016- Thank you so much for watching this movie for me, Reds! Is it completely ridiculous and silly? Absolutely. But it's a fun time for me. And I enjoy watching it every year in October, like I watch a bunch of family fun and friendly Halloween movies this time of year, including all of the Ghostbusters movies. Because these are the kinds of Halloween movies I really enjoy, and can have fun watching over and over again, no matter how silly they are. Like I've told you, I've never been a fan of horror movies. I don't watch them for a number of reasons. But the Ghostbusters franchise is just a lot of fun for me because they always make me laugh. Even if they are silly. These movies, including this movie, are just cheesy fun, lighthearted, and entertaining. I know that this movie is hated by most people who have seen it for many reasons. Including because it was meant to be a remake, or reboot of the Ghostbusters franchise, and everyone feels that these women who took up these roles, along with Chris Hemsworth, completely ruined everything that we love about the original Ghostbusters movies. I think they were just wanting to have fun with their roles, and they did. They all had so much fun playing their characters. And I can appreciate that. In my opinion, this movie isn't nearly as bad as what most other people think it is. Is it better than any of the other Ghostbuster movies? Not by any means. It is definitely my least favorite of them all. But it's still fun and entertaining. Plus... I love each of the cameos we get from the cast members of the original Ghostbusters movies too. It's great to see Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and Sigourney Weaver all back, even if they are playing completely different roles and not their own original characters. We even get Slimmer back as well! Rick Moranis, who played Lewis in the first two Ghostbusters movies, retired from acting years ago, so he is the only living actor who didn't make an appearance here in this movie, or in the newer Ghostbusters movies. And yes... Harold Ramis who plays Egon Spangler in the original movies died in 2014 from a very painful disease he lived with for many years, which I can't remember anything about. But the final years of his life were tragically very difficult for him because he could barely speak or even move at all. Sadly, both Harold Ramis and Bill Murray had had a big falling out during the filming of another movie they worked on together in the 90s... Groundhog Day. Bill Murray was a mess back then, and a very difficult person to work with. And in spite of him and Harold Ramis being very close friends, having worked together in several movies together, Harold eventually just had to walk away from Bill, because Bill caused a lot of problems for him, especially during the filming of Groundhog Day. Thankfully, Harold and Bill were able to make up with one another and became very close friends again in Harold's final days. Which is really beautiful. And this is one of the reasons why Ghostbusters: Afterlife, is one of my very favorites of all the Ghostbusters movies along with the original Ghostbusters from 1984. Because Afterlife beautifully honors Harold Ramis as a friend and creator for this franchise, and it beautifully honors Egon Spengler as a character. But back to Ghostbusters from 2016... Melissa McCarthy as Abby, Kristen Wiig as Erin, Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzmann, and Leslie Jones as Patty, as well as Chris Hemsworth as Kevin, are all just fun throughout this movie. I especially love Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzmann. She cracks me up as the Egon Spengler like character of the group. Just like Egon was always my favorite character in the original movies. I just love her line deliveries, and especially her weird, genius personally. And yes... Chris Hemsworth as Kevin in this movie is really stupid. But he is hilarious to me. And I love the women's reactions to everything Kevin says and does. Hilarious! :) If there's one real nitpick I have with this movie... It's that I really don't like the music remix of the original Ghostbusters theme song that's played throughout this movie, as a way to more modernize it. I really hate it. So, I really love, love, love the moment in this movie when Holtzmann is firing her weapons to take out the ghosts surrounding her during the big fight in the end, as the original version of the Ghostbusters music is being played. It's a fantastic moment in the movie! :) Overall... I have fun watching this movie again and again, and it makes me laugh. Which is what is most important for me when I watch movies, or comedies. I want a movie to make me feel just as we are meant to feel watching a movie. If it's a comedy, I want to laugh. And this movie succeeds. So, for me... I enjoy Ghostbusters from 2016. And I am happy you really enjoyed watching it for me too, Reds! So, thank you very much! :) Sincerely, Heidi
