I did recognize Merlin, Arthur and Lancelot. I didnt recognize the others you mentioned. True I was confused by what they were fighting for but I did still enjoy the movie and do look forward to any future request :)

King Arthur- Thank you so much for another fun movie reaction, Reds! I absolutely love this movie! Especially because this film adaptation of the Arthurian Legends is the closest adaptation to what is said to be the real story of King Arthur, if King Arthur truly existed like many historians have believed. And this movie is beautiful and powerful, with fantastic music and brilliant actors playing the roles of King Arthur, Lancelot, and Guinevere, and all of Arthur's knights.
King Arthur is played by Clive Owen, an actor not too widely known, but who is great in a number of the roles I've seen of his. There has never been too much proof that Arthur truly lived, but many historians believe he did and that he was a great and just leader, who lived and fought for his men above all else. This movie portrays Arthur as a man who believes and loves his men, and who fights for the belief that all men are equal. He is also a Roman soldier, who believed in a Rome that never truly existed because Rome was corrupt and immoral, which he sadly learns at great cost by the end of this movie.
Lancelot is played by Welsh actor, Ioan Gruffudd... A phenomenal actor whom I've loved in many roles from movies and TV shows as well. And I love, love, love his character in this movie, when I normally hate this character and legendary figure in all other adaptations.
In the legends and love stories told of Lancelot, Lancelot comes to Camelot seeking to fight alongside King Arthur, a man he loves and adores. Arthur's closest and dearest friend. And who seeks to become one of Arthur's great knights. Upon him being rewarded by Arthur to become a knight and soon after his closest friend, Lancelot unfortunately comes to fall in love with Guinevere, Arthur's wife and Camelot's Queen, and the two have a powerful affair that threatens to destroy Arthur and Camelot by the end.
In this movie... King Arthur and Guinevere don't marry until the very end, and Lancelot is sadly killed in the final battle. And no affair comes between Arthur, Lancelot, and Guinevere. Although... There is an unspoken love between Lancelot and Guinevere throughout this movie. This is what all of the silent looks between these two characters show. And I truly appreciate how their love is portrayed so subtlety. Because in knowing how Arthur feels for Guinevere upon him saving her from her prison, Lancelot refuses to act on his own feelings for her out of love and his loyalty to Arthur. This is why this movie is my favorite film adaptation of this great legend and story of King Arthur. Because I love these three characters (within this movie only, when I normally dislike both Lancelot and Guinevere in all other adaptations), and I appreciate that no affair ever comes between them.
As for Guinevere, played of course by Kiera Knightly whom I've also loved in a number of movies as well... I love this movie's take on her character as well, because it's by far different from any other version of who she might have been had she been real. I love that Guinevere is one of the Woads, led by Merlin, who is more of a witchdoctor or healer and leader of his people, than a wizard like he is portrayed in every other film adaptation and legend of King Arthur. And I love how Guinevere and Merlin fight to help Arthur unite their people as one, in order to make Britain a stronger country.
And of course, the rest of Arthur's knights are played by famous and strong actors as well. Tristan is played by Mads Mikkelsen, who is from the first Doctor Strange movie, and so much more. And then we have Hugh Dancy (Galahad), Joel Edgerton (Gawaine), Ray Winstone (Bors, who is the villain in Black Widow), and Ray Stevenson (Dagonet, who is one of Thor's three friends from the Thor movies). All actors I love and love from other movies. Especially Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen.
Overall... This movie is beautiful and powerful. The music is strong and beautiful, the battles are outstanding, and the actors all do a wonderful job. Outside of this movie three main characters, I love Merlin and each of Arthur's knights... Gawain, Galahad, Tristan, Bors, and Dagonet, as well as Bors' wife and children too. And while I hate his character within this movie as we're meant to hate him... I love Stellan Skarsgard as the Saxton leader. And in case you didn't recognize him... He is the same actor who plays Erik Selvig in the Thor movies and in the Avengers movies. :)
Thank you so very much for reacting to this powerful and incredible movie I love for me, Reds. I enjoyed watching King Arthur again with you as you watch it for the first time. I know you were confused a lot of the time, and so I feel like you didn't enjoy this movie as much as I hoped you would. But I am glad to hear that you enjoyed it at least a little. Thank you for reacting to King Arthur for me!
You're amazing, dear friend!
Sincerely,
Heidi
