2πR- Another great episode! Another great reaction, Reds! So good! :) In answer to your confusion over this episode's title... The π symbol, is a symbol for the mathematical term for pi, or 3.14 etc... Because Finch talks about pi so much throughout this episode, and because it holds meaning for both him and Caleb, this episode is simply titled, 2 pi r, or 2πR. Now... I love how Finch fights to save Caleb from himself in this episode, as we learn that he's the mastermind behind the drug deals, but that there's also so much more to him. Because while what he's doing isn't a good thing, he's doing it all to make money for his mom, and he's not planning on living past the night upon which his brother died at the exact same age Caleb is now. This kid's story is so heartbreaking, and I feel so badly for him. Losing first his brother and blaming himself for his brother's death, then feeling like the lives of everyone he cares about being so much better off if he were to kill himself... It's so tragic. I love that the big twist within this episode comes in the ending, when we eventually learn that Caleb plans to kill himself by jumping in front of the train on the same night at the very age his brother was when he died. It's heartbreaking, but it makes so much sense as to why Caleb is doing all he's doing throughout this episode. I absolutely love Finch's drive to help Caleb, even with Reese being trapped in prison with his life on the line. And you can certainly see his worry for Reese as well. But I love seeing all of Finch's efforts to save Caleb and then how he helps this kid genius to really understand his full potential. And I love that Finch then gives Caleb his phone number to contact him again, hidden within a string of numbers making up the first three thousand numbers of pi. As well as gives Caleb the idea that he's the hacker that got away. Fantastic!! I really love Caleb's character in spite of his mistakes. :) I also love Fusco's role throughout this episode, as he works to figure out the mystery behind Caleb. I especially love the moment between him and the transit cop, when Fusco learns the truth about Caleb and behind his brother's death. A very powerful moment, and one for my favorite moments in this episode. Regarding the drug dealers... I believe it's very briefly mentioned that Fusco has them arrested, or does something to make sure that they won't ever be a problem for Caleb again. If this is so... Most likely, Fusco and Finch will help Caleb out by offering him a deal that leads to no prison time, so long as he is willing to testify against the dealers. And so that they will wind up in prison where they belong for a very long time. Given that they are selling drugs to kids, and who knows who else. Now... I miss Reese a lot in this episode. While I enjoy the episode a lot, I wish we would have seen more of Reese. And yet at the same time, I understand why he wasn't in this episode much, and applaud the creators and writers of this show for such a decision. Because this allows a chance for Finch to really shine, without Reese being the badass that he really is. And I really appreciate this. This all also helps to add to the mystery and thrill of what's to come! FBI Agent Donnelly isn't backing down. He's determined to get the Man in the Suit, which does not bode well for Reese. And lastly... I am absolutely worried about Carter, because she's gotten herself in really deep. I most certainly love and appreciate that Carter is willing to fight to protect Reese, in spite of her crossing the line that she once swore she would never cross because she's a good cop, who is untouchable when it comes to her morals. And the fact that she's willing to cross the line for Reese, says a lot about what she believes about him. She sees Reese as a very good man, who fights with the same drive to save as many people as he can. Even though his methods of doing so are a bit different, and far more dangerous than her own. But unfortunately, her doing all of this for him is definitely putting her in more danger and more at risk with Agent Donnelly. Yikes! Thank you so much, Reds! I appreciate another fantastic reaction from you to one of my absolute favorite shows. :) Sincerely, Heidi
