Behind The Spotlight Chapter 19

"What do you think of Lawrence," Wyatt glanced at the man's resume to see his complete name. "What do you think of Lawrence Terrence's performance?"

Wyatt was the director of this movie, but he couldn't deny the three people in the room had more experience than him in terms of making movies. Even Collin, who was a model for years, had an idea of how movie production went.

"He's not bad... Well, his performance is great. His delivery and expression almost make me laugh... But I held myself from laughing because I didn't want the guy to believe that he would be hired." Gerald, the casting director, said his opinion.

"My only problem is that he doesn't have credentials that I can base on. If we hired someone like him, how can we expect that he will not run amok? He doesn't know how movies are made; he is just a theater actor."

Listening to Gerald's opinion, Wyatt nodded. Honestly, Lawrence's lack of work experience was not a problem for Wyatt. After all, Wyatt also lacked experience in this field.

Then, Wyatt looked at his assistant director... A guy who was a decade older than him. Wyatt had no idea where Collin found these people, but he was also thankful that his team was quickly assembled without a hassle.

"The last time I said my honest opinion, the producer kicked me out of the project so I don't feel comfortable saying my opinion."

Anthony, the assistant director, dropped his lore. It seemed that this was the reason why an experienced guy like him decided to work in a small-budget movie like this. He lost his job and needed another job to pay the bills so he agreed with Collin's invitation.

"You don't have to be conscious, Anthony; we need to hear your opinion as it can determine how we will proceed next," Collin said to Anthony.

"If you say so. Lawrence had a handsome face but it's more on the feminine side. Despite reading the script and preparing for only ten minutes, he managed to give us an amazing performance. At least his audition was better than most of what we saw today."

Wyatt and Collin agreed to what he said while Gerald just shrugged. It seemed that Gerald didn't like working with newbies.

"Anthony your opinion is pretty valid. I'm now curious why the producer kicked you out."

"Well, I said to the producer that the lead actor had sex with him just to get the role. Everyone knew about that and they just kept quiet."

"..."

Collin and the others realized that Anthony was a guy who couldn't keep a secret.

"As for you Collin, you asked Lawrence if he has an agent. Why did you ask him that question?"

Wyatt had been curious about that.

"If I told you that I want to sign him, will you believe me?"

"You're being serious right now?" Wyatt was a bit surprised.

"Why? Did you see potential in him?"

"Pretty much." Collin grinned while looking at Lawrence's resume.

Collin had been out of the hospital for two weeks now. As he restarted his work as an agent, he realized that once in a while, he would see floating words above people's heads.

Collin could discern people's talent because of that. The trigger to activate it was when a person did something related to his talent, the floating sentences would show up above his head.

So far, Collin has seen over 30 people who had floating sentences above their heads. Wyatt and Arnold were included in that.

However, after seeing people's talent, the only person who had a golden talent was Wyatt. Most of the time, people only had white and yellow talent ratings.

But it changed today. When Lawrence started acting, Collin could clearly see the golden words floating above his head.

Lawrence Terrence

-- A Comedy Actor

-- A Romance Box Office Hit Actor

Just like Wyatt, Lawrence had two talents related to Showbiz.

'However, unlike Wyatt, Lawrence's Comedy Actor was only color yellow. I'm more interested in his talent as the Romance Box Office Hit Actor... I have no idea if this can be considered a term but the floating words say otherwise.'

Only the Romance Box Office Hit Actor was the golden sentence. Despite that, Collin was still serious about signing the newbie actor. He felt he was digging undiscovered gold in the river.

"I want to sign him."

He smiled at Wyatt. The director paused for a second before nodding.

Collin was an agent. If he discovered a potential in Lawrence, then it was understandable why he was interested in signing him. It was his decision alone, Wyatt didn't have the power to stop his agent from signing whoever he wanted to sign.

"Let's see... If he signed a contract with you, I'll hire him. Think of it as my way of helping your clients get steady jobs... Let's hope we will get steady jobs." Wyatt added.

"I believe this project will be successful."

"I will do my best to do so."

Wyatt understood why Collin was doing his best to help him. Wyatt was a director. If he became a successful director, then Collin had an easy way to give his other clients jobs. It was a win-win situation and Wyatt had no problem with it. He was thankful that his agent was ready to invest in him.

"Lawrence left a contact number, I will call him later," Collin announced.

As for Anthony and Gerald, they decided not to veto. They admitted that Lawrence was the best actor for the role of Jess so far.

With that, the audition resumed.
