Hollywood What If Chapter 237

[Mr. X(David O'Hara) stepped into the elevator confidently. He was known to be the greatest assassin of the Fraternity. Rumors even said that he could stand toe to toe with the Baba Yaga.]

[His intention when he went to this particular building was to find and kill one of their veteran members who betrayed the organization.]

[He entered a certain room and found a woman. The woman was startled as she recognized him.]

"Relax, if your name comes up, you'll be dead already." 

[He said to assure the woman.]

[He tossed a golden coin to the woman, his payment, before giving her the bullet. He looked out the window and found a few construction workers working in another building.]

"We lost our members recently. We like to know where the traitor is getting his ammunition."

[The woman started inspecting the bullet.]

"It's clean."

"Meaning?"

"It's untraceable. The person you are looking for is very smart--"

[Yet a second before she finished her sentence, a bullet pierced her head, immediately ending her life.]

[Mister X looked out the window and realized the the construction workers were actually hired killers. They started firing bullet after bullet.]

[The greatest assassin of the Fraternity dodged the bullets and escaped their vision. However, he didn't have any intention of running away.]

[Despite the enemies being in another building, Mister X, with extreme focus, jumped into their building. He killed three people while in midair. Perhaps that was a feat that only a strong assassin like him could pull off.]

[After he successfully landed in another building safely, he killed the last construction worker.] 

Ring ring*

[The situation didn't faze him. Mister X found that a cell phone was ringing in the pocket of one of the dead bodies. Mister X answered the call, knowing who the person on the other side of the call was.]

"Marcus, no one leaves the Fraternity alive."

"I have a little perspective of the Fraternity."

"Careful, you can't destroy something that has been around for a thousand years. Fraternity is not that simple, even the High Table can't take us lightly."

"It's already destroyed, Sloan broke the code."

"Really?"

"You know this."

"Why don't you face me yourself? Never send sheep to kill a wolf."

"They are decoys."

[Suddenly, Mister X realized his impending doom. He looked down and found out that he was stepping on an X mark. Implying that he fell for a trap.]

"Goodbye, Mister X."

[Even a strong assassin like Mister X failed to escape the wrath. His head exploded as the non-manufactured bullet shot his head.]

[The bullet traveled from a difficult location. It evaded a small space between the trains, flying miles just to reach his target.]

[On the other side of the phone, Marcus(Willem Dafoe) had a bruise on his face as he pulled the trigger, killing Mister X.]

[Wesley Gibson woke up on another boring day. His cheating girlfriend nagged him early in the morning.]

[Even his jobs were not that interesting, especially when he knew that his office friend was the one who was banging his girlfriend. It didn't help that his fat boss was making fun of him as well.]

[His life was miserable. Even his internal monologue was filled with negative thoughts.]

[He had anxiety disorder and his head and heart felt like they would explode whenever he experienced something stressful. All he could do was take pills after muttering sorry to anyone who made his life miserable. Yes, Wesley was the type who kept saying "sorry".]

[Days passed and his life didn't get better... What did he expect?]

[Wesley went to a pharmacy to buy the prescription that calmed him whenever he had anxiety.]

[Yet tonight, a woman he met for the first time would take him to a different world he never expected.]

"I'm sorry?" 

[Wesley said to the woman who was standing next to him.]

"You apologize too much." 

"I, um, I'm sorry about that." 

[The woman kept staring at him and Wesley felt uncomfortable.]

"I knew your father."

[The atmosphere was awkward. He paid for his prescription before answering.]

"My father left the week I was born, so..."

"Your father died yesterday on the rooftop of the Metropolitan Building... Sorry."

[Wesley looked at the woman before chuckling. This was probably a joke, he thought.]

"Look, the liquor is around there, so if you--"

"Your father is the greatest assassin who ever lived... And the man who killed him is behind you." 

[The woman pushed Wesley down. She pulled a gun out of her pocket and shot at Marcus who was watching them a few meters away.]

[Wesley caught a glimpse of Marcus before the woman pushed him behind the grocery shelves.]

[Marcus and the woman shot each other at the same time and their bullets collided. The Fraternity had a strong control over their bullets, their mastery in holding guns might be better than anyone.]

[The woman kept shooting and Marcus deflected the bullets using his bullets as well. It may seem like everything happened in slow motion but the truth was far from that. The two were just strong.]

[Wesley understood that the situation was dangerous. Obviously, he intended to run and leave the two.]

[When he ran towards the exit, he realized that Marcus was staring at him. Marcus tried to...]

[Suddenly, the woman shot the fire extinguisher between the two men and created a smoke screen.]

[She pulled Wesley out of the shop and put him in her sports car.]

[Marcus followed the woman. Their gunfight caused a commotion in the streets. While driving their respective cars, Marcus and the woman kept shooting bullets at each other. Marcus bent the trajectory of his two bullets and successfully flat-tired the woman's car.]

[The car stumbled and rolled, making the car miserable in appearance.]

[When the sports car almost rolls over the police car that responded to the commotion, Wesley subconsciously yells "Sorry".]

[Fortunately for Wesley and the woman, they escaped the scene with their flat-tired car.]

[Marcus failed to follow them, looking at them from afar. Having complicated expressions.]

[Author's Note: From the looks of it, I think it might take another two or three chapters before I can finish the summary. For the people who watched Wanted, I think you know about Marcus' role in this movie, hehe.]
