NORTHLANE - Bloodline (Mix Tutorial)

Here's the mixing video for Bloodline! This one was hard to keep short because of the cool drum sound I got going and also all the synths!

Next cover will feature the same drum tone so you'll hear more about it there too :)

lmao that overheads channel sent in the hi-hats channel awkward moment was hilarious, youve come a long way man !

Louis Tremblay

Weird, it really should output at 0 but I'm glad getting a trim to boost it was good enough! Thank you so much man, I'm so happy you're trying out some of my tips :)

João Medeiros

Yes, the trim is at 0. The point of a clipper is to clip the signal at 0dB. It seems yours is outputting higher than 0dB since it is clipping JST. I added a trim plugin after the clipper and was able to push it harder. Really odd! Love the mix.

Daniel Holman

Check the little Trim screw on the bottom of JST Clip: it must be at 0 for you to push the amp the way I am doing it

João Medeiros

I can clip the JST input by cranking the input gain but it still isn't hitting as hard.

Daniel Holman

I am noticing you are pushing the JR inputs into the red. I can't accomplish this while using JSTClip. The input level won't get any higher since it is getting clipped. My DI's are around -3dB going to the guitar bus into JSTClip at 1x max, which won't allow it over 0dB.

Daniel Holman

I'm hitting just below clipping point Daniel! My highest peak at about -3.0dB. What "effect" do you feel you're not getting?

João Medeiros

When you are tracking DI’s what db are you hitting? I am trying the clipping technique but my levels are way lower and not getting the same effect.
