"The battlefield where the Hero and the Demon King fought..."
Oni Chichi, or rather, the Archbishop of Council of Torment was standing on the battlefield where the legend started and ended.
"The ominous presence is in the center... The very place where the battle ended. The only part of the Forest of Death where plants could not live."
She wiped her forehead. She was sweating despite her physique. The records about this place were minuscule. But in the end, they got it.
She turned around and realized that 1/3 of her force was gone. The path to this place was dangerous. They met so many Aberrants and the loyal followers sacrificed their lives just to accomplish this mission.
"Now, this will be the start of the new era."
She grinned.
She signaled the followers and started the ritual.
The followers went to the center of the old battlefield and build the altar. This was a tedious process but they had to do it.
The sacrifices were already set. They were squirming and bound. No matter how many times they struggle, the strings that bind them were impossible to break. They cried, screamed, and call for help but they received nothing but beatings. To make the matter worst, all of them were females.
"The sacrifices are ready... Let's start."
This place was dangerous. Everyone could sense it. They felt like their lifespan was slowly diminishing as they stay in this place.
The Archbishop was the only one who could do this ritual because of her unique Term Attribute.
She started doing hand symbols. White aura encircled her as if she was a holy being.
Even the followers who were watching the ritual kneeled and prayed.
"Kill the sacrifices."
She ordered.
One by one, the followers slit the sacrifices' throats. They trembled as they lost their blood. Their eyes hoping for salvation. Their blood landed on the black ground together with their bodies.
Suddenly, the white aura around the Archbishop widened and absorbed the blood.
The Archbishop gritted her teeth as she persevered. She could only use this spell every century. The first time she used it, she revived Puti, her friend. She sacrificed a hundred souls to revive her... However, Puti could not remember her memories.
The second time, the Archbishop realized that the noblest form of Elves-- a High Elf, was equivalent to a hundred souls. That was the first and last time she acquired a High Elf. She resurrected her target and he remembered 2/3 of his memories.
This was her third time. Yet she could only find the descendants of High-Elves. She didn't have a choice, it was impossible to find another pure High Elf... Because she was the only one, or so she thought.
The white aura spread until the earth shook.
Suddenly, a pillar of black light shot into the sky. The ground started shaking. A strong gust of wind swept the place and the followers flew around. Yet their adoration never stopped.
The dark sky was split by the black light as if an existence from myth awakened.
"It's happening..." The Archbishop grinned excitedly. Despite having a pale face, she was enthusiastic to meet him.
The black light went into the sky and everyone could sense it.
.........
......
...
"... It should have been at least a thousand years. But why did he show up now?"
The man in the transparent glass muttered. Despite being in the underground, he sensed the advent of the Demon King. He was a person from the past and he heard so many things about the Demon King.
As a Demi-God who was close to Godhood, his whole existence was shaking in fear.
"This is not right..."
The glass cracked because of his anger.
The Demon King had a different name. The God Slayer. He was the reason why the era of Gods ended.
If the Demon King really showed up, it means that another destruction would fall upon the world. This time, no Hero would save them.
"The Hero... No, that existence might show later but not now. The Demon King always shows up first."
Because of this situation, the man destroyed the mirror. He decided to come out. He wanted to stay in the water capsule and absorb more blood from Demihumans to attain Godhood. Unfortunately, he didn't have a choice but to act on himself.
"... There's a commotion happening up there."
He could sense the battle that was happening in the dungeon.
.........
......
...
"What is that?"
Ivy Naomi Higashikata frowned when she witnessed the black light that shot forth. Despite being on the Eastern Continent, very far from the Forest of Death, the woman saw the black light. Not only that, she sensed a terrifying existence.
Her instinct as a Demi-God was telling her to run away...
........
.....
...
"You got to be kidding me."
"Master?"
Despite having a blindfold, Medu stared at the black light that was going into the sky. She knew this presence very well.
Athena next to her was confused. She was wondering why there was a pillar of black light.
"Based on the direction, it's probably from Junian."
She muttered. Suddenly, her heart tightened when she recalled that bastard.
"Calix..."
She was worried and clenched her weapon.
.........
......
...
All of the Demi-Gods sensed the changes in the atmosphere. The pillar of black light represented the fact that the peace they cherish would be close to ending.
The Minokawa cawed and landed near the ritual. The wind pressure was so strong but the Minokawa knew how to defend against the wind.
[Human, I recommend you to leave this place. It's going to be dangerous.]
"You think I can run away? Not a chance. I have to find someone first. What about you? I think that black pillar of light is not good."
[I admire your bravery despite being weak. I will try to protect you, be fortunate, human.]
"Thanks?"
'Why is this bird acting like a grandad or something?'
