My brother and I realized that we were getting childish with this threat.
Sean coughed and seriously looked at me.
"Keith, you have to take things seriously. You're already a father. Think about it carefully. This is my phone number, contact me once you made a decision. I'm fine with either answer, as long as you call me. Just don't run away without notice."
"I understand."
I accepted his contact number. After having a few conversations, my brother left the house. I followed him down and watched him enter the Ferrari.
It was a mystery that his Ferrari was still intact after being parked on this street.
"Have a safe drive, brother."
"Hm, make sure to call me."
He narrowed his eyes and stared at me.
"... I will."
When the Ferrari was gone, I heard a bunch of housewives talking about what happened last night.
"The protest last time indirectly caused a death of a 6-year-old child so the police showed up."
"Yeah, because they were protesting and blocked the road, the ambulance that was carrying a child was stranded on the road and died. Seriously, I understand the reason why they are protesting. But why do they have to cause trouble for innocent people."
Now that was interesting. Protestors usually leave a ton of trash after their 'relevant' protest against the government.
Heck, the next two decades would be dumbfounding. Activists would start throwing cakes on paintings just to get the attention of the media.
In my opinion, they were just hungry for attention. If they really want to help the planet, at least lead it with goodwill. Not with nonsense gluing-your-hands-to-the-road-to-cause-trouble.
I found it pathetic and sad.
I returned to the house and found my wife washing the dishes.
"Honey, about what happened earlier. I'm sorry. I didn't know that Sean will cause trouble."
"I think your brother is just worried about you." She turned to me and wiped her hands on my shirt.
She just finished washing the disease... Although it was confusing why she used my t-shirt to wipe her hands.
"Let's talk about the shop and house later."
"Okay." She nodded.
"How's the kid?"
"Roman is taking care of Sophia."
"Hm."
The two of us entered the kids' room. Roman was reading his assignment, almost as if what happened earlier was nothing to him.
I approached Sophia.
I felt bad because my daughter cried twice and her eyes were swollen. I touched her forehead and I sensed her twitching.
"... Sophia?"
"..."
She didn't answer.
But it was clear to me that she was faking her sleep.
Does that mean that her cries earlier were fake as well?
Probably not. Of course my daughter doesn't have any green tea features... I think.
A few minutes, Sophia 'woke up' from her sleep and greeted us.
"Dajjy, I'm sad."
"Don't worry sweetheart. Mommy and Daddy are always here for you."
She was sulking as Penelope embraced her. Now that we had a possible house and shop, I felt relaxed for some reason.
I know that my brother would never betray me. At least, he would try to keep his promise as much as possible.
"Honey, I think about it seriously..."
Entering our own room, Penelope leaned closer and talked to me.
"The kids need a proper house. A house where they can have their own space. With our status, it will be hard for us to rent a big apartment."
"That's right."
I agreed. Renting was already hard. We didn't even think of buying a house because the house in Manila was expensive. Even the money in the bank could not buy one. Unless we started a housing plan and pay for the house monthly, but that would be expensive as well.
"Furthermore, I'm afraid that Manila will be not good for the kids. Look what happened last time, you were almost killed. I'm still afraid whenever I think of that."
"Honey..."
I put my around her waist and pulled her closer. The incident regarding my taxi car was still haunting her.
She really cried so much when she heard that the robbers put their guns on my head. I was scared as well, but Penelope was much worst. She cried hysterically.
"Honey, I don't want to stay here. I think agreeing with your brother is the best decision. I know I'm being a hypocrite but renting the house and shop for 5 thousand pesos will help us a lot."
"Honey, you're not a hypocrite. You're an angel."
"Keith..."
"Penelope..."
The two of us stared into each other's eyes. Our faces got closer until our lips touched.
.........
......
...
"You guys are pathetic. Seriously, I can't believe that my sons will grow into pathetic men."
An old man who had wrinkles around his eyes glared at his two sons. If not for his high blood pressure, perhaps he already swung his cane to them.
"Bradley Castillo, don't you dare talk to my sons like that."
"... Humph! Your sons are a big disappointment! I can't believe that I leave my companies to them!"
Bradley Castillo, he is Keith and Sean's grandfather. He was usually a quiet person, but once angered, he would start speaking hurtful words.
Right now, his two sons visited him to report what was happening in the companies.
Bradley Castillo and his wife, Matilda Castillo had two sons.
The eldest son was Henry Castillo while the second son was Ernesto Castillo.
Henry Castillo had two sons while Ernesto had three sons as well.
Their family was filled with sons.
When the two sons visited their parents, they believe that their father would be happy because the companies were running well.
However, they didn't know that Bradley's friends were bragging about their granddaughters and great-granddaughters!
That's right, they were bragging in front of Bradley who didn't have a daughter, granddaughter, or great-granddaughter!
So obviously, he was blaming his kids for having sons!
"My sons are disappointing!"
Henry and Ernesto looked down with sad expressions. Obviously, they could not control their sperm. They wanted to have daughters as well but their genes brought them stinky boys!
