Chapter 49




After half an hour of pushing myself to the limit, I lay on the ground gasping for air. My shoulders and biceps were aching. I wanted to stay like this for a few minutes, my sweat already made a puddle under me. 


I groaned and stood up after resting. 


"Here's a towel." 


"Thanks, Honey."


I caught the towel that she gave me and started wiping my sweat. 


"It's already noon, you can use the bathroom to take a bath if you want to." She reminded me.


This house only had two bathrooms. Most of the time, they were occupied. 


"Do you want to go with me?"


"... Yeah, I want to take a bath too."


"Me too! Mommy, I want you to wash my hair, they are fwizzle and I hate them." 


"Yes, baby."


It seemed that the three of us wanted to take a bath. 


The three of us went down and as expected, there were no people in both bathroom. We decided to use the nearest bathroom. 


"Just give me a few minutes, I'll carry water." I gave the towels to Penelope. 


The water in the basin was not enough. It needs at least two gallons of water to be filled for us to take a bath. 


"Hm, don't worry, I'll wash Sophia first," Penelope started taking off Sophia's clothes. 


I nodded and went out with two gallons of container in my hands. 


Just as you expect, I have to pump water with my hands. It took almost five minutes to fill two gallons. I pumped faster to make sure that Sophia and Penelope would have water. 


When I returned, Penelope was washing Sophia's hair.


"Sophia, stay still. You don't want the soap to get into your eyes, right?"


"No, Mommy. That would be pwainful." She followed her mother's command. After all, soap in your eyes is stinging and torturous. 


"Here's the water."


"Thanks, Honey."


I poured the water into the basin and filled it. Then, I started taking my clothes off, except for my shorts. 


Men washed their bodies faster than any woman. We only need to thoroughly wash our armpits, balls, ass, and face. Of course, we could wash them in any order. 


People say that men use only one soap to wash their balls, ass, and face... I don't know about other people, but I do it like that. There was no such thing as a facial wash, heck, I don't even know one single product of facial wash for men.


"Honey, can you help Sophia rinse? I'm going to wash my hair."  


"Okay."


After rinsing my body with water, I crouched down and washed Sophia. The little girl was giggling and kicking, she was indeed too mischievous. Now I understand why Penelope has to remind her to stay still. 


Unlike me, Penelope took a long time to wash her hair. When she was finished washing her hair, Sophia and I were already done taking bath. 


"Honey, take Sophia to the room first. We don't want her to get cold."


With a small towel, I wiped Sophia and then put clothes on her. I was carefully putting her clothes, afraid that I might hurt her. I know my strength and I know that at Sophia's age, she was still fragile and weak. 


Thankfully, we didn't have a problem. 


"Then, I'll take Sophia to the room first."


"Yes."


I carried Sophia back to our room and played with her to spend time with. A few minutes later, Penelope returned with wet hair. 


"How's Sophia?"


She asked me and I pointed at Sophia who was holding her 'Pwincess Aria'.


"Mommy!" She screamed happily and dashed forward to hug Penelope's legs. 


"Aww, my cute baby~ Hm, you smell nice." 


"Hehe."


Penelope sniffed her, her nose almost touching Sophia's skin. Sophia giggled because it was ticklish. 


"How about lunch? There are still leftover dishes and we can reheat them." 


Penelope combed her hair. 


"I want fried chicken."


"We will see about that."


Fried chicken was one of the dishes that were eaten the most last night. I'm not sure if there's a leftover.


After we fixed our appearance, we went down again but this time our destination was the kitchen. 


"Oh, looks like you're playing with your toys very well." 


Penelope was surprised when she saw Roman and his cousins playing Yo-yos.


"Thanks for the gifts Auntie, I like them very much," Billy said happily. 


"I'm not the one who chose your toys. You have to thank your Uncle instead, he bought them for you."


"Thanks, Uncle Keith."


"It's alright. I will buy more toys next year."


Penelope glanced at me. 


Well, if things went well, then I decided to visit Dagupan, Pangasinan every year. I know that my wife misses her hometown. 


"Kids, do you want to eat? I'm going to reheat a few dishes. Just tell me what you like to reheat."


"Yes, Auntie! I want goat stew."


"Pork Adobo!"


They became excited when they heard Penelope's approval. I helped my wife with starting a fire. Unlike gas stoves, the flame from firewood was hard to control. 


But because Penelope had experience cooking with firewood. She didn't have a hard time handling the fire. 


A few minutes later, the dishes were served on the table and the kids were salivating as they held their plates. 


"Then, let's eat." 


Penelope only reheated a few portions, it seemed that there were a lot of leftover dishes last night. 


Penelope served them with rice and let the kids choose what they want to eat. 


Roman was eating with his cousins while Penelope was feeding Sophia and eating at the same. She really knew how to multitask.
