Preview: Az'ea opens the portal...

First up I want to say there's another, saucier CG with Az'ea and Lord Goblin that I'll be showing off soon. The intro is by far the biggest scene in the game so far and needs two CGs to complete it, along with sections using the sprites. You will have seen sort of a version of the other one before, on day 2, but that one's heavily obscured. That will be the full, lavish version of it.

This one here is by Sommelier, and because of the timing this will be the first CG that actually appears in the game. It's a multi-stage shot with before and after the summoning represented, so this will crop up right where the existing intro ends. It's doing a lot of work to carry forward the story.

The mostly complete intro

In fact, that's why the intro ends there in the current version - when working on it I realised we needed more art. It also needed a huge amount of editing work - I've been plugging away at it for probably longer than it took to initially write it. Beyond the parts already in the game, the new stuff is about 44 pages long in script form (thanks partially to branching options) and we need to do a decent job on it because it forms the first impressions of the game.

I did think it would be good to get out of the intro faster and into the main gameplay, but I feel like players need this bit of information about the premise of the game. It's generally a good idea not to front-load all the exposition and drip-feed some of it later on, but this intro is pretty much first base for the game's concept.

Just the new stuff will include 2 CGs, 4 choices and 47 lines of Az'ea voice acting, including a moaning loop (more than what I'd normally put in a whole script to send to a VA). I also had to rework a lot of stuff to match stylistic changes between when I wrote it and how the game has since developed. So maybe you can see why it's been so much work... or maybe not.

The Leviathan

The design and sprite of the Leviathan is by Littleheros. Here's a demo image of the Leviathan's in-game sprite compared to other characters in the game. And a little tease for a character still to come.

One thing I want to note right up front though, is that despite his nudity here we're not planning any sex scene involving him right now. He's like that because it just makes sense for a demon in this universe from the Circle of Lust to be walking around hanging dong. 

I don't want to spoil too much about what he's up to, of course. That's something you're going to have to wonder about for now...
