A) If you had a genie (like Jinn) for a roommate, would you request anything from her (even if she wasn't servile or nice)?
B) You have a genie roommate, and she just won't stop transforming you. What are the ways she torments you, and do you let her know what you like, or try reverse psychology? What do you think would happen?
C) You're a neighbor to a pretty nice guy or gal, and they have an overbearing and nigh-omnipotent roommate. What do you bring as a housewarming gift / activity?

2025-01-21 00:35:37 +0000 UTCFor housewarming gifts, its great to bring something consumable: soaps, cooking oil and spices, if your apartment has a paid laundromat system, a pre-paid card. If you've known them for a while perhaps a gift-card to a restaurant, with an implied offer for a first date. Maybe a 250+ piece puzzle. If you are meeting for the first time you'd have to bring something they can share, or split evenly. (or possibly 2 separate gifts) If you've known them for a while an... offering to appease the roommate would probably go over well.

B) Jinn's enjoyment comes by feeding on negative energy (at least historically). She's getting used to the idea that maybe getting consent can make it more fun. ;) C) As long as it's not Monopoly, I think you'd make it home safe.

2025-01-08 18:20:16 +0000 UTCI'm writing a similar series, but with three roommates who are witches instead of a single genie. So I've got some surprisingly applicable answers. Also, there are a few writers on DA I would highly recommend that have series about almost exactly this topic. A) I would ask a genie roommate to use their magic for convenience. So for them to do more chores, help me get to work, and ask to join them in any magical events. I would also ask them to wingwoman for me at parties or the bar if I was single. B) I would expect the genie to TF the roommate for 3 main reasons: convenience, punishment, and enjoyment. So for convenience, stuff like appliances or roombas. For punishment, getting flattened into a doormat for making the floor messy, or being turned into a lock if the roommate left the door open all night. For enjoyment, the obvious clothing and toys, but also stuff like the TV remote or animals. Like if the genie wants some animal companionship, well the roommate is going to spend some time as a cat for pets. For tormenting versus enjoying, I think that's about the character. Do they like being dominated and TFed into somewhat humiliating circumstances? Do they hate being a dog (the flees suck), but they enjoy being a bird for flight? Do they try to turn the tables on the genie by trying to trick them or use a mundane or magical objects to redirect the spell? There's also an important aspect for how pleasurable, painful, or boring the TF is for the roommate. C) For housewarming, I would bring brownies from my family recipe and flowers. For activities, I'd bring board games like Sorry. For being more nefarious, I'd bring a NSFW card game that has questions about the players.

I would imagine that being a Jinn can be very tiring and wear you down with people’s greed, encouraging monkey paw like shenanigans so I’d probably let them be. If you mean “please don’t change me today my parents are coming over” then yes probably. I feel very similar to Garrett so the torment would have to be based on situations they put me through not just TF’ing me. I’d probably be upfront that I love being TF’d. Cheese platter. Or maybe wine
