@newberyandy and I talked about the isolation both Charlie and Nick feel in dealing with Charlie’s anxiety. We decided on a particular camera height, angles and closeness to the actors to create the feeling of being trapped and that intimacy with the characters, so the audience gets to witness and participate emotionally.

For a show that’s primarily hand held and spontaneous, we often embraced grounded dolly shots, static camera, restrained on the amount of hand held and economical ways of approaching the scenes.

Some of the scenes in ep 4 were approached like a character driven indie drama, which was fun to explore within the format of television."
