UPDATE on "Stuff I missed" video and casting video

Just updating you on where I'm at. I've been struggling with how I'm going to make the "Stuff I missed" video because I'll have to compress everything from season 1 and maybe also season 2 into one video (or two separate videos would probably be better) and I just now decided how I'm going to make those. I'll just make a separate project for each episode, put in the stuff I missed, take out everything else leaving only the relevant clips in order, render every episode's clip separately and then put them all in one project (or two if I decide to do season 1 and season 2 separately, which is probably the way to go) and then render that Frankenstein video together to avoid murdering my computer by having everything in one project.

There's also been the question of WHEN is the right time to make this. As you've seen, I'm continuously struggling with more material I didn't have on time for the videos coming out (I mean, we got stuff for season 1 today) so no matter when I release the video I'll still keep missing more stuff that will come out afterwards. I decided I should probably aim to release the video(s) once season 3 is out and we're officially shifting focus from seasons 1 and 2 forward (so maybe the new s1 and s2 material coming out will slow down?). That is also going to be a time when people have a renewed interest in my channel. Also no matter how many times I warn people, some people are still bummed that it takes half a year to produce the Deepdives series (precisely to avoid me having to make "Stuff I missed" updates but here we are, can't be helped) so that'll give people something to watch while they're already on my channel waiting. Right now my channel is kind of hibernating but if last season's stats are anything to go by, I'll get a big viewership spike when season 3 comes out anyway so it'd be good for me to have something to upload. I figured that would be a good goal to set.

I've also been really struggling with motivating myself for the casting deepdive. I dunno, I just really don't enjoy working on it :( . I do want to finish it but it's tedious and messy in a way the regular episodes aren't and I have never gotten to a good flow with it. At first it was just going to be for season 1, then seasons 1&2 and then season 3 castings got announced so I knew I'd have to include those but there's no video interviews out for the new cast members so I figured maybe I'll release that after season 3 comes out as well... And also with my channel being all sleepy and forgotten at the moment I've also lost the habit of working on videos daily and it's hard to get in the mindset in this in-between time. I dunno, maybe you guys could be a motivation to get myself together, especially if I'm announcing my intentions and thus making a somewhat solid deadline to get stuff done by October/November-ish?

I am working on the random secret art project that I will post on the channel when it's done but I'm still not at a point where I can take a decent work-in-progress picture and show you. I will give you a sneak peek when I get to that point, though! I know lots of people won't care about this one, I'm just combining my hobbies for my own enjoyment and kind of using the Youtube channel as an excuse to do it 😀. But it's something at least!

I do feel a bit bad that I don't have anything much to offer you Patrons in terms of "original content" in these in-between seasons times. My channel's popularity just really drops for a long time between seasons so I also naturally kind of get focused on other things in that time. But I should do better! And making these deadlines should be a big help! I find it always helps to tell someone what to expect because then I'd feel really embarrassed if I don't do it. Although, I still won't make super solid promises on these extra videos. If I really hate editing the casting thing and making graphics for it I might not make it to the end on time. I started this whole project (meaning everything on the channel) not even expecting I'd ever even necessarily finish the Deepdive series, let alone actually make a real Youtube channel. It was a beyond pleasant surprise that I did and made it this far. I want to keep the spirit of that alive to some degree and I hope I naturally find the fire I get when I'm super active in time and don't have to force myself.

I'll just put my own interest and enjoyment first on the Very Big projects and want to keep it fun for me. But I obviously wouldn't be doing any of this at all if it wasn't for all of you watching and supporting! It was always a main motivator to imagine an audience like you even when I was still tentatively starting this project for fun, not even sure if I could get to the publishing stage. You all, especially you kind and generous Patreon people, have greatly improved my productivity, feelings of accomplishment and outlook on life (which might seem silly for someone running a fan Youtube account but it's so very very true for me).
