Subscription Billing Switch on November 20th
Added 2024-11-13 23:58:16 +0000 UTCPatreon is forcing all creators to switch to subscription billing on November 20th.
Currently, new patrons are charged immediately and then on the 1st of the next month for their pledge, regardless of when they pledged. Starting on the 20th, patrons will be charged when they pledge and then again on the same day for subsequent months (i.e. the 20th of every month).
As I understand it, Apple is forcing Patreon to make this change. We don't have any problem with this change, except that our Launcher is built on the Patreon API, which is no longer actively supported by Patreon. We are not sure how the change in billing will effect our Launcher, so please let us know if you notice anything odd or out of the ordinary in our Launcher after November 20th.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind patrons that its best to pledge to our Patreon on the website, not via apps. For iOS at least, our pledge tiers are more expensive to pay for Apple's 30% cut. If you pledge on the website, then you don't have to pay for this extra charge.
Thank you for your understanding and we know this is all a bit confusing. For most of our existing users its likely nothing will change or break, we just want to make sure you are aware of this change in case it does.
