Looking back, when I collected arts for that preview collage piece for promo, I realized that I actually had made some of my favorite arts just in the past few months alone. It's easy to forget when I'm constantly thinking and worrying about the next thing or how much I'm getting done, that the works that do get out are actually kinda bangers, sometimes π Maybe 2026 will be the year I'll finally manage to sit down with that knowledge, internalize it and relax a little bit.
Overall I've also felt a shift into focusing more into finishing individual pieces rather than doing loads of sketchier drawings, and to be honest I think about that a lot. I reckon it's a combination of becoming more nitpicky/critical of my style as it evolves, and just the physical toll art increasingly takes on me as I get older and spend more time drawing than I ever have. I don't believe it's a good thing, and going forward I'd like to be more mindful of that and allow myself to be more at home doing messy and sketchier stuff again, and show it as well.
In other news:
Otis, my sweet Otis, the village bicycle and renowned hole. I don't know what on earth happened, how exactly he came to be, but he has been such a silly little muse this past fall and I am absolutely overjoyed that you guys have enjoyed seeing him in situations as well! π
(Not sure if he's getting anything through the silly straw in this picture. Although... well, he does have legendary suction powerπ€)
