Attempting to top obscure Strava segment leaderboards [SEGMENT HUNTER]

Evening $4 Tier!

Last week I escaped dad life for a couple of hours and went on a quest to be crowned king of four obscure, seldom trodden Strava segment leaderboards. Join me as I run 10 miles (twice) through more lovely Staffordshire countryside, traversing overgrown footpaths, old abandoned roads, and of course winding up where I wasn't supposed to be (again, twice).

Let me know your thoughts on this video, my next idea and anything you would personally like to see on the $4 Tier. I plan to go hard this summer!

I like your videos as someone who lost clsoe male friend, way to young love your spirit. I will wish we could of gone on some adventures like yourself before he passed. if it's ok to say I love to see you competing against more womxn or even those with disabilities. would Verity be up for something? one day I hope to do a blog with your spirit of adventure while coping with health stuff too. hope Verity is getting few hours off .motherhood too!

lizz

Believe it's a Coros of some kind

Sam Wiström

Does anyone know what watch Tom is using? Looking for a present for my dad who wants to get back into running. Appreciate any answer :)

Nick Schwarzer

Hey Tom, I just watched this video few days ago. I am not a native speaker and although I use English quite a bit I never encountered the word "Sconner". Thanks to you it got into my memory vaguely, and then this morning while half asleep I saw a clip / an add for a TV show "The Responder" with Martin Freeman and they talked about him being a Scouser (also word I don't really encounter..). Well damn I was confused how having no pubes connected to the character... 😂

MironP

London or Manchester no roads mission may be interesting

Dave Lowhorpe

Okay, Strava Segment Hunter HAS to become a new segment. I love the fact that you're hunting segments that were most likely never even made with a competitive goal in mind to begin with. I can imagine random people just strolling about or gently jogging through a slippy, overgrown pathway thinking: 'what kind of a madman SPRINTED through this in 30 seconds??', or even better: people seeing you do it. It's a hilarious display and I want more of it!

Rémy Hauspie

I'd shout you a copy of it for PC if that made a difference. :)

Dean Carter

This was great, definitely make it a reoccurring segment!

Arrghjay

Good work Ricky!

tom davies

I'm planning to do one :)

tom davies

I play football like him too. I usually score but it takes me a few goes.

tom davies

Thanks Nick! It ain't easy but a bit of fresh air is important!

tom davies

Glad I'm not the only one!

tom davies

Cheers Sam!

tom davies

thanks Sherlock that can be arranged!

tom davies

I've thought about this but not being a gamer I've never owned the game or the console!

tom davies

Cheers Joe!

tom davies

I am! they will either be released this weekend or next weekend.

tom davies

Love the Strava/Running content Tom! Because of this video I chased down my first segment ever (well, top 10). Lovely work as always!

Ricky Liddell

Love this kind of content and it’s exactly why I became a Patreon member

Paul Bragg

Always great content, would love to see another '10 pounds in my pocket' video this summer! Congrats on the baby :-)

Zac Vernon

Tom you have inspired me greatly with these videos! Congrats on the baby🥂

William

Haha those dog walkers were so confused at you just pegging it down those paths

Ed Shelton-Richards

My man runs like Raheem Sterling with those t-Rex arms

Digsy’s Dinner

Would be interested to see what equipment/tech you use to track your running & also would be interested to know how you got into running, obviously you've always liked adventuring, much like me, but i prefer walking a lot of the time.

Deccyboy

No interest in running at all. But seeing Tom attempt slightly daft challenges which really mean something to him, is exactly what I’m here for. Also, never thought about the hedgerows making summer straight lines hard. Never heard that in the videos or missed it. Also, also, glad he wore two different t-shirts.

Craig Cooper

Absolutely loved it. I don't think you need to consider whether people enjoy these or not, you're just a naturally charming bloke 🤷‍♂️

Jamie Witt

In ten to twelve years we'll have Tom strolling around with his kid and he'll be like "wanna race dad??" and then take them to these overgrown segments.

Ewoud van Aalst

Fun! Thanks for posting

Daniel Burt

Absolutely loved this!

Nick Schwarzer

Fair play Tom. I didn't get out of the house for about a month after my son was born. Six months before I got back to my weekly 5 a side. You guys must be naturals

Nick Marchant

Did enjoy this - been a while since I did some segment sniping, but it’s great fun.

RHYS

Loved this! Congratulations on the baby too 🍻

Sam Davies

Really enjoyed it, would be great to see some more of these!

Sherlock Bond

Nice. Tom, have you tried crossing the world of GTA V in a straight line? Would love to see that. Obviously Minecraft is no good as it would be infinite....

Dean Carter

Great bants as usual Tomboy. Can’t wait for England conclusion.

Joe Gallant

I had a feeling that the ones you've done in the past wouldn't really be possible at the moment given the driving involved and the baby like you said. But a more local one with a no moving guess would be great as well! As I'm sure you know, all us patreons will love whatever adventure you upload. Congratulations again on becoming a dad, your greatest adventure yet! (well, second to the straight line mission across England of course.....)

Ciaran O'Callaghan

Love the idea Tom, happy you got some top leaderboard spots! QQ: are you planning to create new posters for Mission across England, in the same style as you had for Wales? Cheers mate!

Sven Van De Voorde

Great to hear! cheers Jack

tom davies

That was what I was going for! haha thanks ZZ

tom davies

That's not a bad idea! Maybe one day when we're on our hols!

tom davies

My ideal customer! thanks J

tom davies

Thanks for your thoughts Duncan, glad you liked it! I've just moved from a Garmin forerunner to a Coros Pace 3 and I love it. I wouldn't say it's more "Strava friendly" because I know some of the Garmin watches will beep when you're approaching a segment for example, but the Coros Pace has really impressed me with it's battery life, accuracy and features

tom davies

Thanks Jon duly noted!

tom davies

He's a good chap!

tom davies

Thanks for the input Ciaran. We have talked a lot about doing another one of those. It would be tricky with the baby with all that driving, but there's definitely potential for a no moving one where the locations are all in the midlands!

tom davies

Cheers Steph!

tom davies

Love to hear it Jordan!

tom davies

giving Francis Bourgeois a run for his money

tom davies

cheers, appreciate it :)

tom davies

Thanks Matthew! enjoy the honeymoon"

tom davies

Thanks Luke I'm glad!

tom davies

Cheers Ajay!

tom davies

Great video, love these shorter day adventures and challenges. keep it up

Jack Mingle

The real life Geoguesser videos are some of my favourites to go back to.

Jack Mingle

Absolutely love how every single attempt looks like a horror film protagonist and also the film director are escaping from some lovecraftian biblical-accurate ghost that we ordinary people can't see. FYI, typo in subtitles 1:47, should be "right" not "write"... right?

ZZ

Tom, come to America and run across the San Francisco peninsula with me straight line style. I promise you won’t get shot 🤞

Alec

I'd love to see more of the running video's, they're always a great! But I'm basically happy with everything

JeroenL

Another fabulous video. I use Strava and segments all the time, but this was super unique and very compelling. I suppose I’d love to see more of these off-track ones. I really did like the two session approach (which I know was sort of not planned)… but if you were intentional, you could first do an overview part where you map out the challenge and then you could splice with the actual attempt (so basically what you did, but instead of attempting twice, do an overview first, then go for it second time). Other ideas for segments would be to do a segment “bagger” aka Munro bagging but for Strava segments. Set yourself a time limit and try to take on as many segments in that time as possible, bonus points for getting 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Quick question: I’m thinking about getting a watch to pair with Strava when im out running. Any advice?

Stuart Duncan

Enjoy it a lot Tom, would love to see more of this type of content! A good Strava segment is always nice to hunt

Jonatan Alvelid

Be interesting to have a No-Moving first guess too before you start looking for clues, and compare scores at the end (to go off raw vibes as well as church noticeboards and confused Welsh women)

Matt C

Will Bot must be a hell of a bloke

Jack

Great video Tom! I'd love to see some more real life geoguesser videos from yourself as well. Watching you try and figure out where you are after Verity has dropped you off in the middle of nowhere blindfolded is always entertaining!

Ciaran O'Callaghan

Love a Strava segment. Great video!

Stephanie B

Love the running content. Great to watch before my own runs. You and Cody Kolodziejzyk have been inspirations for me to get back the feeling of challenging myself. Feels great.

Jordan Thompson

These running camera angles are meme material

Pieter Mallants

Great video as always!

Thuess

Loved it! So cool to see the trails and nature on offer for your runs. We’ll be honeymooning in England this August and hope to find some good scenic hikes. Thanks for sharing!

Matthew Fossum

Very much enjoyed this Tom, was different and a great watch. Look forward to the cycling one

Luke Brown

Very entertaining 👍🏼
