The most brutal day in my straight line mission history [ENGLAND PART 3]

Evening all Patreons! here's part 3 of the mission across England. Enjoy and have a top weekend!

My most ambitious adventure to date continues and it's out of the farmland of Day 1 and into the remote, rugged forests and hills of Day 2 and beyond. 10 miles of pretty much solid pine plantations was the impossibly tall order of the day, and with utterly miserably freezing weather, I was guaranteed to be pushed to my physical and mental limit. All I could do was get my head down, and pray for no big fallen tree sections..

Some speech might be difficult to hear - use good speakers/headphones if possible and use the man made subtitles

I just checked for #4 too :-)

Siggi Churchill

PATIENTLY WAITING FOR PART 4 :D

Leo Wale

Check the pinned comment on his recent video! It clears a lot up :)

Robert M

No worries, thanks for the reply. Looking forward to watching it

Nathan Schulz

Nice job! Are you wearing wool? It's pretty much a necessity for those conditions. Wool socks and underwear would have kept you warm even if you were wet.

Dawnbandit

Can't divulge that info Nathan but appreciate the intent!

tom davies

You are an ANIMAL! If you ever need help with fixing "bad" audio i'm studying music and media production in Stockholm and i've got some cool tools to fix stuff like the audio in the van.

jonathan andersson

How many episodes of this are we getting? Planning on binge watching them in a sitting

Nathan Schulz

Get in Tom, making some good ground ya legend! Really exciting to watch. Especially cause the task at hand is so much larger in scale this time. Loving it. Keep on wizardin' <3

Rémy Hauspie

You're journey through life has been a huge inspiration to me Tom. Thank you for sharing the good times and the bad.

Calvin Co-Mided

Absolute beast, fair play this one looked miserable but a real achievement 💪

George Lunn

I was going to say that too — wool still keeps you warm when it’s wet, unlike cotton or synthetic fibers.

Daniel Burt

Verity and Ben are such good teammates on this trip - I’m sure it helped to push through when you knew that you’d see them both in a couple of hours.

Daniel Burt

Incredible determination!! Did you use the find my phone feature to locate where it was ?

Daniel MacPhee

You’re an inspiration, and equally absolutely mad 👌

Mark Morrison

Thank you!

carolynswiszcz

You're absolutely right to say that the forested/timber farm areas are alien - to most life. In fact these areas are pretty much devoid of any ecology at all with shockingly low support to any fauna and flora. Rank in every sense dude. Most of the general public are duped into thinking they are somehow natural or nature supporting but that's as far from the truth as possibly could be. Epic journey, riveted to every moment. Si.

Springfield Hobbit

you crazy brit

violentbob

Well done pushing through the mental and physical obstacles!

Brian Duea

This mission is fantastic. The complete unknown is giving me serious Wales 1 vibes. Tom - you are amazing to persevere through all that. Keep fighting.

Hamish Marshall

I feel like this series is really started to fire up now - great work, Tom.

Nick

This was an all time episode for me. Thanks Tom!!

Dustin Geddes

Great effort Tombadil. I feared the worst for today, delighted you're still going

LordLard

What an absolute warrior ! Always a pleasure to watch

Guillaume GRS

go on tom!

alan doyle

Particularly enjoyed Tom's vivid description of last nights dream. @32:02

Ben Roberts

Just brilliant, so relieved to see you get through that section, but more so that you avoided hypothermia.

Arrghjay

I really needed to read that, Tom, thank you!

Arrghjay

Same here 😅

Arrghjay

ah I see, even when best prepared, something must go wrong haha. Episodes have been great so far, hope you make it to the end.

Scott Carson

Congrats on having the mental and physical fortitude to push on. Legend!

Stuart Duncan

Tom's love for pot noodles and gummies instead of healthy instant meal kits & energy bars will be a mystery wondered by straight line philosophers in 100 years from now.

Jake

The year is 2376 and archaeologists in a remote area find a ancient communication device

exploring with ashley

Well done Tom, immense, awe-inspiring effort. Let’s fooking go!

Will Tucker

If any forestry workers find your phone they must think it has fallen from the sky, as no human would voluntarily go through there 😂. Regarding clothing, a layer of wool closest to your body from top to bottom can help with hypothermia as it doesn’t drain heat from your body the same way synthetic fabrics do when wet. And you can get really thin wool too so it doesn’t add extra weight or bulk. So impressed you went back out for the last section, incredible willpower!

Marte Kjelsberg

You’re so right. I’m glad you’ve discovered that for yourself as well. I guess what I was saying was that it didn’t appear that you were just pushing through the cold, it was like you were dragging yourself up from the depths and that you’d done it before for something much worse. It just felt different to the usual farmer woes, this one. Very very well done to you

Anders

A paintball mask with a mesh?

Anders

problem would be they'll fog up like crazy

Thomas Malloy

Yeah really had to dig deep there Hannah! I have however come to learn that for me at least, these types of mental lows, i.e. ones caused by physical discomfort or pain, or at least the action of overcoming them is quite literally the antidote for depression. It seems that depression creeps in to fill a void that is left when we don't push ourselves!

tom davies

How's it going Calum!! yeah after this farmland feels like a dream. But farmers can mean failure and failure was not an option! hope you're well mate xx

tom davies

They always seem to fog up!

tom davies

I didn't explain it properly Scott. Something to do with signal on Verity's end.

tom davies

Maybe bring protectice glasses to combat all the branches next time.

Anders

Great watch!

Tom Csöndör

Maybe I missed this, is there a reason tom couldn't text Verity with the Sat phone ?

Scott Carson

Nothing but admiration at the mental strength it must’ve taken to get through that.

Lewis M

I was hoping you would release #3 tonight, I've just settled down with a pint to watch the video, nice one! I like to follow your route myself by looking at online maps while I watch the video, does anyone else do this?

Siggi Churchill

i can only imagine that in 300 years time someone discovers your lost phone as some sort of ancient artifact

Ryun Rich

whoever it is, I'm fxcking getting in... great video

Bryan Kennedy

This one was quite emotional for me. I know you’ve had (and probably still have because it never really leaves you) mental health issues in the past, and I just really felt when you gave yourself the pep talk it was a bit deeper than one might think at first glance. I got glassy eyed I have to say. Your determination was great to see, Tom. As always I can’t wait to see what happens next

Hannah Samuels-Lyons

Incredible mental fortitude mate. Really impressed. Surely the perils of being caught on a farm has to be prefereable to these forests though? Or indeed the extra vegetation worth it for the light and temps of summer?

Calum Stevens

Hell Yeah!! I was really worried seeing you shaking like that, but you didn't give up! Nice job, really. I love this.

Sergio Baranov

I was really worried about your health at times during this video, but I am happy that in the end it ended well!!

Ewoud van Aalst

This is brutal terrain, good on ya Tom for powering through. Can't believe how much you were shaking in the van!

MrWendell

Archeologists are going to have a wild time figuring out what your were doing when they discover that lost phone

Ryan Stevens

Great video as always! Really starting to think it's going to be a success with your determination, love to see it

Oliver Salmon

Just about to start a night shift, this woke me up nicely and I'm ready to face it! Thanks Tom!!

Whitchit

I actually found this quite tough to watch at times. Especially when you were shaking in the van. Hats off to you though Tom. Such grit and determination. Brilliant.

Martin Willetts

Yessss perfect evening watch thanks Tom!

Imraduin

Time for the part I've been dreading, I saw that the Fieldhouses have delayed their Part 2 so I'm worried as I start watching this video haha.

[Jon] The Nameless Project

Get in!

Haris

Get in!! Perfect Saturday night plan :)

Andrea Sala

Lets go!
