Kayaking through rough black country areas! (Training session #1 for the world's hardest kayak race)

*Watch with subtitles!*

My Uncle Ed has signed us both up for one of the most legendary kayak races on earth, the Devizes to Westminster race. The race consists of 125 miles of canal and river (Thames) with 14 miles of running past locks along the way. The race ends at the houses of parliament in London. It isn't until April 2023, but judging by this first outing, there is lots of work to do if we are to stand a chance of completing it.

On our first jaunt in our brand new racing kayak, we decided to venture out towards the black country on the slimy canals that you might have seen on my recent black country mission. A few years back some local youths threw rocks at us as we walked down one of these canals, so there was some apprehension about floating through on a kayak. My strategy was to adopt a vocally confident approach to disarm potential culprits.

I'll probably post 2 or 3 more of these and they will get incrementally more and ambitious and scenic as we approach the race itself.

Let me know your thoughts, and have a splendid Christmas!
