Added 2020-07-20 10:02:49 +0000 UTCFound myself with an hour to kill in Walsall town centre yesterday. The shops weren't up to much, but I found that there was plenty of entertainment to be had watching the local drunkards and loudmouths who now rule the roost in the town square.

As an American, I feel like I've been conditioned to think of the English as better than me, but this video, among others, has helped me to realise that everyone is just as trashy as us Yanks

There are some terribly anti social people in the world, part of me thinks we need better education, more supportive mental health / drug services to help these people. There are obnoxious and very anti social people from rich backgrounds, they just have nicer accents and get away with it. I had a friend who was a recovering heroin addict, she had a much kinder soul than a lot of normal respectable people I've met though. But that's the universe, good and bad, people just struggling to exist. To quote Dylan Thomas, "We are not wholly bad or good, who live our lives under Milk Wood.". Looking forward to the next straight line mission episode!

The fact that some of the people there might be homeless, have drug addictions or mental health problems didn't really come into it. There are plenty of homeless people and drug addicts who don't go around shouting and swearing in front of families and drinking cans of special brew in the middle of the town square. It was more a behavioural thing. That said, I can see how it might look from another perspective so I'll be more careful not to offend in the future! Appreciate your feedback.
