An image of the dreaded 400+ metre wedge that I had to climb on day 4 of the mission across Wales. I'd been through a lot that day already, including a huge forest, 10 miles of uneven, swampy bracken covered ground and several big climbs, fuelled only by hard gums. The diagonal route up this slab of welsh earth and the pain in my right leg and foot that came with it, has made me eternally grateful for the existence of footpaths. To this day I don't think I've ever had a harder climb. Bike or foot.
