Asia is on the right track with the trauma. The entity usually chooses to make the person kill themselves in-front of someone who has already experienced some trauma in their personal lives. Like the one victim, Gabriel, his wife said he never got over his brother's death 20 years ago, and the entity likely chose him because it picks individuals who are ripe with trauma. Also, Laura (the girl who gave the curse to Rose at the begging) mentioned her grandfather died in-front of her when she was seven. The victim picking process is calculated. The second one maintains the same theme of trauma.
