The Flash Gordon character in the movie was played by Sam J. Jones. He played the Flash Gordon SciFi character in the 1980 film. Flash Gordon originated as a 1930s comic strip. If you remember the fight Sam had with the Chinese guy and the duck in the first Ted movie, the reason it was funny was because Flash Gordon's nemesis was a Chinese super villain called Ming the Merciless.
