When We Meet Avon and Stringer They Are in Their 30s and are ALREADY Established. Unlike Marlo who is in his early 20s and is still in the process of establishing himself post Barksdale and Bell era in the SAME territory once ruled by B and B just a year ago. Avon didn't want the ref to speak up for himself. Avon was daring the ref to talk back. For all we know, part of the reason that Avon is so feared in the streets on Season 1 is because like Marlo, Avon did his share of doing exactly what Marlo did to the security guard who got himself killed by trying to be a tough guy over 2 lollipop suckers. #TellemTANKseddit

2025-05-21 05:04:11 +0000 UTCThrough my countless watches of this show I've realized that scene at the beginning of ep 3 with the security guard is the stark difference between Avon/Marlo. Look back at Avon's scene at the basketball gm in S1, he's mad at the game but he's basically offended the ref wouldn't speak up for himself. Avon's into honor, rules of the game etc. Marlo on the other hand, was offended the security guy dared to speak up. He sees himself as above the rules of the game
