God damn this movie absolutely devastates me. It's silly and childlike and there's something so beautiful in telling the story through that lens. Like even in the midst of the most brutal, horrific tragedy, we can still see the world with innocence and kindness. And a bit of history--at the very end it, when Berlin was about to fall to the Russians, the Germans did use the Nazi youth as the last line of defense. There were barely any men left to fight, and in the last video recording of Hitler taken shortly before he killed himself, he is speaking with a regiment of boys who he was about to send to die (though they weren't quite as young as JoJo).

Their story is brutal and tragic and I never got to meet her because of it I was bawling at the end of this movie...it's a weird feeling to know you're alive because so many people died π
