Sailor Moon Redraw Challenge
Added 2020-05-20 16:18:15 +0000 UTCSo there's an art challenge going right now to redraw a scene from an old episode of Sailor Moon. This is my shot at it. I tried to make it look like a screen grab from an old VHS dub and I'm pretty happy with how that worked out. There's also been a lot of interpretation of her facial expression. I was reading a discussion last night praising the subtly of the expressions of classic 90's anime, but as we all know by now, I don't really do subtly when it comes to drawing expressions! I thought it would be more fun to draw her battered and bruised, but refusing to be defeated. Like, I don't know the context of the original image, but for mine, I like to imagine the villains laughing in triumph, but then suddenly stopping as she starts to climb back up and delivers this line, followed by an epic beat down of the bad guys.
But, yeah, this was a lot of fun. I'd kinda like to do more eventually.
