I've watched this series a few times now. Still working to catch up with you and enjoying watching it again through your eyes. The death of Ben was so very heartbreaking because his mental illness did not allow him to make good decisions when he was off medication. Not even the threat of death stopped him from making bad decisions. This was the second episode I shed tears.

Laura Linney was ROBBED of an Emmy for this performance. The characters of Wendy and her brother were beautifully acted, and when I first saw it, I had to watch the scene 3 times; boy was I crying!

The way I see Wendy is as a typical politician want a be. She wants power, but in the guise of ‘doing good.’ Her eyes light up when she talks about the Byrd Foundation and especially the psychiatric hospital she wants to build in memory of her brother. Darlene is just as hypocritical when she dreams of building rehabilitation centers for people addicted to heroin. She called it a plague, yet she is determined to start producing again with her new batch of poppies. Oh, the irony.

I can definitely empathize with people who have loved ones who are bipolar. Sorry about your dad. He was on meds but every Summer like clock work he would go through a manic phase and start abusing alcohol and stuff. The Summer he passed in his manic state he over did it with what is called “”wipit”. Not sure if spelled correctly.

Sure, Ben might be mentally ill but being bipolar does not mean being a retard. Bro was making all the dumb decisions when he was TOLD NOT TO to save his and his sister's family's lives but he just kept on doing the opposite stuff. I'm sorry, but he had it coming and I feel horrible for Wendy.

Absolutely still love this show! The only thing I am kinda salty about is how the blue cat was just completely left out of these last seasons. I enjoyed the blue cat ambiance, brought something special to the show. Can wait for season 4 !!!

I’m actually glad that in your reaction, that you 2 were very willing to try to understand mental health issues. A lot of us deal with it. I’m Bipolar (not that bad- I’m blessed!) however seeing how bad it can be, and worse….. its scary as hell…. Hearts and love 💕 to everyone who suffers from these issues. God Bless 🌹

AWESOME REACTION, as usual. You guys are the best reactors, in my humble opinion!!! First things first, All of the men on this show are WEAK! All of them. They get emasculated by their women; they get bossed around by their women. The women are the leaders, and the men are the followers...everything is backwards. The men don't wear the pants, they all wear dresses! SMH! Just embarrassing. With that said, the women on this show are just terrible. No redeeming qualities whatsoever. I remember how shocked I was when Helen got ‘taken care of.’ We had to wait months for the next season to find out why. Navarro didn’t even know the extent she went to with the paperwork she got the agent to draw up with Marty’s “confession.” She really was setting them up to be killed. Ding dong, the witch is dead is entirely appropriate for her. The looks on your faces were priceless.

I’ve seen Ben’s story arc 3 times now and it still makes me cry when Wendy realizes what she has to do to save the rest of her family. The writing and acting was phenomenal and the emotions are so real and powerful. The best hope for Ben was to get the help he needed, but the state facilities are so horrible that they just sedate them and he has been through that before. The private mental health facility that Marty wanted to send him to would have been preferable, since they can afford it now. Even though he was on his medication while substituting he acted out impulsively. So the medication alone was not enough. He was definitely an interesting character.

This last season since I've already seen this is going to be just as epic* As far as seeing Helen killed like shot right in the head and the way she was taking out so quick it was something* my jaw dropped for a good 5 minutes just I couldn't think of my eyes were wide it shocked me I didn't see it coming😳 see this is why I say my top five shows are Sons of Anarchy, Ozark, Queen of the South Breaking Bad & Mayans MC.. You guys really need to check out Mayans MC and queen of the South they're so good

Asia was spot on. Ben bought the phone so he could keep calling Helen and try to reconcile, he doesn’t understand that what he did is unfixable. Wendy had to choose between her brother and her family. Likewise, Navarro had to choose between the Byrdes and Helen. Marty’s play worked, the Byrdes proved they were more valuable to Navarro by weaponizing the FBI against the Laguna cartel, that’s something Helen couldn’t do. Helen forced Navarro to choose between herself and the Byrdes, and he did what was in his best interest. And that shot with Darlene and Wyatt/Ruth is pretty cool, Darlene wanted a family to take over the farm, now she's standing there looking over them and her poppy field as the sort of "next generation".

So, while both characters have their flaws, I believe Wendy's behavior aligns more closely with sociopathic traits.

I’m so sorry about your cousin. I mentioned in the comments for the last 2 episodes that my dad was bipolar. Was your cousin on medication? From what I witnessed with my dad, he was pretty much OK when he took his meds regularly. I think a big problem is that most people who are bipolar don’t think there’s anything wrong with them. They have to be convinced. Ben didn’t seem to think he had a mental disorder.

I don’t think he’s a sociopath. I think he has problems with morals and ethics, but he doesn’t go out of his way to kill people or make them suffer. He has been in survival mode this whole time, but is very calm under pressure. He tried to warn Mason that he was going to get himself and his family killed if he didn’t stop trying to get his church built. I don’t think psychopaths try to help others not get killed. Marty has a very flat affect, but so does Jason Bateman! The only difference is that Jason sometimes smiles and laughs. 😂

That last scene with Helen getting popped had everybody putting their eyes on Ozark for the last season. We all had to wait almost 3 years for season 4. And trust me, it's one of the best seasons of any show that I've seen.

Marty warned Wendy about Ben's instability and the potential danger he posed to the family and the business. Did Wendy listen? Of course not, she never does. Honestly, I can’t stand Wendy; I find myself liking Darlene more and more, lol.

I’m so happy Ruth went in and gave Wendy “bitch wolf” a piece of her mind. - Ruth’s dad (terrible man but her dad) was killed on Wendy’s orders via Helen - Ruth killed her uncles to save Marty - Ruth got beaten so bad by Cosgrove Jr that she needed surgery and the Byrdes let him off the hook (understandable, they did the best they could) - Ruth was freaking water boarded by Helen and her goons - The one man Ruth has ever loved was murdered with the approval of Wendy and the Cartel lawyer Helen. Glad she quit.

I roomed with my cousin for a number of years and he was bipolar. It eventually killed him about a year and a half ago. I can understand what it’s like to have to deal with it. Seeing the character Ben reminded me of certain things my cousin was dealing with. Made me sad.

Hardcore fans please help me out: I’ve seen this once before, I still don’t understand: do the Byrdes still own the Blue Cat and the strop club? Haven’t seen those places in forever. Or did they sell them off and I missed it? Maybe to get funds to buy the casinos? Or is someone else operating them for Marty?

I’m not a fan of the whole tv series stuff. They could be getting to so many more movies but instead huge portions of their fan base get screwed and a small portion get new content daily. This is why we only subscribe every few months. Not enough movie content to warrant staying subscribed month after month like we used to.
