February Poll Winner: Zoe & Wash
Added 2020-02-14 18:01:01 +0000 UTCOy, Firefly. How I loved thee. Wash was my favorite character, too. I'm still kinda pissed about Serenity. It didn't help that I heard what happens, no joke, about a half hour before I saw it, so I went into the movie freshly bummed out and I know it effected my opinion of the movie.
Not going to lie, this one was kinda difficult for me and I'm not... 100% satisfied with the results. Not just for the aforementioned harpoon to my heart, but I had a hard time coming up with the concept. IMO, the perfect Zoe x Wash drawing has already been done (I'd link to it, but I can't for the life of me find it. It was done by Comfort Love and/or Adam Withers and it's of the two of them playing with Wash's dinosaurs.) and nothing I could come up with seemed to measure up, so what I finally settled on just seems .... okay. And, of course, on top of all that, drawing likenesses of real people is always ten different kinds of pain in my ass. I struggled with that a lot, and I do think they turned out better than I feared they would in the end, but I still can't shake the feeling that I captured their stunt doubles.
Sorry if this all seems a bit negative. I hope I don't offend anyone, especially the folks who suggested and voted for this pair. I just feel like I say "I'm happy with how this turned out" a lot in these post, so it seemed a bit dishonest not to acknowledge when things don't go exactly how I hoped. Still, I do hope you guys like it okay.
