Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Loved watching this one with you! Another one I haven’t seen in forever since I was a kid ☺️

CD

One of my favorite candy is NerdsRope!

Oscar Ortega

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but a running theory is that the movie Snowpiercer is a sequel to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Its a pretty dark movie, but its crazy how close the theory is when watching the movie, even down to who or what has replaced them in this dystopian future.

Clockwork360

Lol I can relate to Asia, as a kid me and my siblings always sung the Loopa songs but didnt know there were actual lessons. My favorite song is Pure Imagination though. I be randomly humming that one every now and then. It was fun going down memory lane with yall. Made me appreciate this movie so much more

vceisdead

"I bet those gold tickets make the chocolate taste worse" Bro wtf. I dont remember this movie being so sad at the beginning when I was a kid lmaoooo damn

vceisdead

Hey guys! I’m a new Patreon subscriber. I’ve been watching your videos on YouTube for a while now and I can see all your uncut stuff now! Love the videos.. it was hilarious when BJ saw Veruca fall down the garbage shoot.. she was a bad egg

Chris

Beautiful movie. Gene Wilder said he wouldn't do it if they didn't let him do the limp walk with the cane and the summersault and when the director asked him why he wanted to do that Gene replied that if he did that walk and then summersault, after that no one would be able to tell whether he was lying or not, adding to the mystique. Personally I think it's a genius move and I'm very very happy the director allowed it.

Carlos Young

Such a good reaction! Loved seeing BJ’s inner child come out.

Ebony

Great reaction!! Watching this as an adult had me like whoa, I felt the same thing as Asia did when you watch it as a kid you just watch it and sing the songs lol. Me watching this as an adult hit different. The wizard of Oz was ok but my family had us watching the wiz instead. A lot of legends in that movie.

Pop_Pop_Taq

We have a chocolate factory here in Portland that up until the pandemic only let in people for a tour once a year. They would hide golden tickets in the district the factory was located in. I never found one but it was really cool that they did it. They'd post the winners picture in the districts newspaper.

Willy Wonka, and the chocolate factory cast, then and now… https://youtu.be/N7iFO8j5nfs?si=_1GhKoxfrMTjO1zx

great movie and reaction. so cool to see bj laughing and asia smiling thru the entire movie. Asia your smile lights up the world. such a great couple im glad i found your vids years ago. they make my day better. much love from wisconsin

James B.

The original Charlie and the chocolate factory was written in 1964. If you watch the Johnny Depp version, your questions will be answered Asia. https://www.biography.com/movies-tv/real-story-behind-charlie-and-the-chocolate-factory-roald-dahl

I know I’m showing my age, but my mom actually took me to see this movie in the theater when I was like 5 or 6. Gene Wilder also played in Blazing Saddles which was the first one of your videos that I had ever seen. There are three Willy Wonka movies: Willy Wonka, and the chocolate factory. (Gene Wilder 71) Charlie and the chocolate factory. (Johnny Depp 05) this version is the one that is closest to the book. And Wonka, which is a prequel. (Timothée Hal Chalamet 23) If you want to go to a chocolate factory, you need to visit Hersheypark in Hershey Pennsylvania. But just note that once you taste real European chocolate, you will never eat American chocolate again without thinking that it taste funny. 🍫🤢

Carl 🐉

love this version, theres a cool documentary about how they made the film. also Ironclaw is on HBO if you haven't seen it you guys should totally make a reaction to it, amazing movie.

Ekk

For those who aren't aware of the story origins: All versions of Willy Wonka are based off of a pair of Books by Roald Dahl, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and Charlie & the Great Glass Elevator. While I love the Gene WIlder musical version, the Johnny Depp one was in a lot of ways truer to the darker tones of the original book. The new Wonka is supposed to be a prequel about how Wonka got started in the business; however, it upturns a lot of the established history by having his chocolate be magic from the beginning and never having a regular factory full of human workers. By the way, Roald Dahl is well known for having writen beautifully fanciful Children's stories that are grounded in dark undertones and gritty situations; he also wrote Matilda, James & the Giant Peach, The BFG, the Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The Witches, all of which have been turned into movies and all of which have a rather dark setup at their core.

I just started watching this with y'all, the Paramount logo just went away and I see Asia, with the biggest, happiest, excited smile on her face, like a kid in a candy store! I love it! This is one of my fav childhood movies too!!! xoxo

Ross Johnston

So there are two other movies one with Johnny Depp which I like and the newest one that just came out I believe this year or the end of last year one with Johnny is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the newest one is just called Wonka I haven’t had the time to watch that one yet but my daughter loved the original one

Brandy Murphy

Thanks. I was going to check out the new Wonka movie but decided to wait until my sister visits. ✌️🍫

Jesse

Have you ever been to Seroogy's Chocolate in Green Bay? Couldn't stop thinking about the way the Seroogy's factory smells while watching this. Best dang chocolate in the world.

Amanda Powers

I love this movie. I don’t remember when I first saw it but I think I was pretty young. I remember being so scared when they were on that boat going through the tunnel, it got dark and Willy Wonka started chanting louder and louder. It didn’t stop me from watching it over and over. It’s really an emotional rollercoaster. Very funny in parts. Gene Wilder did a few movies with Richard Pryor. I specifically remember See No Evil, Hear No Evil (I might have that backwords). I thought it was super funny. Thanks for choosing this movie. I had fun watching it with you. 🌾💛

ZoeLo

Not sure if anyone said it already, but (according to an movie information you didn’t know channel😂😂). Gene Wilder only agreed to do the part only if he could do his first scene with the limp and cane. So Wonka can be proven to be a liar off his first actions so you never know if or when he’s telling the truth.

Cole hauser

This is one of my favorite childhood movies next to The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, and Funny Girl all great movies each one of reminds me of my childhood I'm a 90s baby and each one of these movies got me to fall in love with Musicals.

Ashley Santiago

Asia and BJ you should do a reaction The Wizard of Oz so Asia can see it.

Ashley Santiago

I agree with Asia this is one of my childhood favorites as well and I haven't bothered to watch any of the other versions because I just feel none would compare. Absolutely loved the reaction 😍 side note: the way Charlie eats the candy in this movie makes it look so good. I always want to go get some 🤣 Also Yardhouse Steakhouse has a gobstopper shot is delicious 😋

Keyuana Gray

I would love to see you guys react to The Wizard of Oz

Mezz015

You are correct. The candy came out years later.

Pink Martini AZ

Omg I ADORE that you popped this on! A childhood classic and whenever it pops on TV I still watch it and get all smiley and touched. Every single time. Only Gene Wilder is forever Willy Wonka for me. I hated the Tim Burton version. Haven’t seen the most recent remake but I’m sure it has wokeness coming out of its ears like everything made today. I enjoyed this reaction so much. I was laughing along with you.

Pink Martini AZ

I cant believe this is like the first reaction where you guys didnt have any snacks to eat! I actually paused your reaction right before they got on the boat and walked to the gas station for chocolate donuts haha

Daniel

A childhood favorite movie. Love it.

Dan Gershgol

This is awesome yo !!! Just saw this post. What a classic with Gene Wilder as Wonka. I loved this movie since I was a kid. Breaking Bad referenced this movie a couple of times and shows how much of an impact it has made over the years on other writers and shows. (Hank and Walt scene).Hank “ W.W. Who do you figure that is, huh? Woodrow Wilson? Willy Wonka? Walter white? (Badger and Jesse basement scene). Badger “You are Willy Wonka, and I got the golden ticket. Put me on your magical boat, man. Sail me down your chocolaty river of meth.” And who can forget songs like “Pure Imagination” and the Veruca Salt song “I Want It Now.” Timeless classics yo. Thanks Asia ,BJ and Fam. 💙🍫🏭

Jesse

I just realized the girl who made her dad buy her everything is Veruca Salt, great 90's band

Don

This is for sure one of the best films. Just the beginning takes me back to sitting at home, watching it along with family. The way they eat chocolate or how they open a chocolate bar, I will never not think of this movie when I have one hahah I'm not huge of the one with Johnny Depp. If you do watch it, take it as its own movie lol There are a lot of people who love it though! The most recent one with Timothee Chalamet, Wonka, I loved that one. It took a moment but was in tears at the end. lol On a sidenote, my Aunt Mary use to work for Hersheys (before they moved to Mexico) and I remember taking tours, getting the free choclate at the end. Her coming home with boxes of chocolate. Also makes me think of this movie and then this movie makes me think of her. I miss her a lot but the memories live on!

Bonnie Smith

I'm pretty sure the Willy Wonka candy brand came out as a reference to the movie. . Kind of like how there is a brand of canned shrimp called Bubbagump in reference to "Forrest Gump", that didn't exist before the movie. . Classic movie though, great reaction!

Wendy Garner

I love the Johnny Depp one. The scenes are so vivid and beautiful to look at especially the candy room scene.

Y'Manni

If you guys like musicals, I would highly recommend Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall!

Brien Kliver

Great movie, Young Frankenstein was in 74. they did black and white for effect,

Don

I hope you both love this movie! Just put your child shoes on, and let the ride take you where it will :) (I think you will love it)...Oh, Asia has seen it...well....I think she will love it just as much this time as the first time!!!!! BJ will love it for the CANDY!!!

BRENDA

I don’t know how they slept in that bed I know it stunk 🤢

Karim

You were thinking of the comedy "Young Frankenstein", Gene was also in Blazing Saddles the Mel Brooks movie. Ok just starting to watch. You know I never have watched this one. I have only seen bits of it. So I'll catch it here.

Teri

The Toy (Richard Pryor) would be fun to watch with you all

Kyy

Check out Wanka with Timothee Chalamet.

Darrell Johnson

It’s the little things I swear… this just made me feel so much better. I’m 32 and this is definitely one of my childhood favorite movies, so I automatically got happy when I seen this notification pop up but then to add Asia’s excitement being on the same level as me 🤣🤣 thank yall 🖤

Kyy

But speaking about Johnny Depp , are we getting back to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise?🥰🥰luv you guya🥰

Awilda Luciano

Ooh I’m team Asia, this was also my childhood favorite. The remake with Johnny Depp has a slight twist but its modern and cute. I’m so happy BJ liked it! Thank so much☺️

Awilda Luciano

Spiderman 2 🙏

Davey

Just what I need to relax. I've paid my dues to the cardio gods and put in my walk around the lake in 75 degree weather. I'm sweaty and ready to have some water :)

Renee S

You should check out some Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor movies :)

LynnC

Hi 👋🏼 The Social Network and Annihilation 💖🙏🏼😊

cernunnos66

Are you watching more star wars soon?

Karl Kraus

The remake with Johnny Depp as Wonka is just as zany, if not more so I'd like to see that one too if you could

Karl Kraus

I don't like many musicals, but man, the music in this is SO good. Like a lot of kids, I used to hate "Cheer up Charlie" but now I absolutely love it... I love those old dreamy 70s ballads.

Jimmie V

Aww niceeee💯👍 so glad y'all watching the original. An oldie but a goodie!!!🥰❤️❤️ Love when Gene Wilder sings 🎶Pure Imagination🎶🥹

Donna Bannister

There's no one that could replace gene wilder as willy wonka. So happy ur finally getting around to the classic

Lewsifer

This is a classic!!! BUT I am not going to lie, this movie low-key scares me lmao 😅 What happened to all the kids?? Lolol.. a question that has plagued me for years 🤔 Anyways great movie drop!! I'm still getting caught up on Dexter New Blood.. I'm almost there!! Anyways hope everyone is doing well and having a great week!! 😁😁

Rebecca Karsner

Oh man that sucks!! Stay safe and get some rest later!! 🙏

Rebecca Karsner

I'm off soon, been under tornado warning 3 times since 11am. Moving patients multiple floors is tough. I'll be diving in for this one to relax later. Stay safe STL it's rocky out here ✌️❤️fam!

Darth Brooks
