I suspect Bess was an enlightened being, hence why she could see that Prot sent the Blue Jay and WAS the Blue Jay representing hope for the patients. I suspect, she was allowed to 'ascend' by Prot and he converted her body and soul to light to transport her to K-Pax (as all matter is energy ultimately anyway) but Prot was purely a spiritual entity and was using Robert's body whenever he visited Earth, so when he travelled it was just his spirit, while Bess was spiritually connected to her Earth body and perhaps that had to be sent with her.

2025-02-20 02:15:25 +0000 UTCThe problem with his repeating contracting and expanding universe theory is that when the universe contracts into a singularity, all the particles/quarks will be in different positions to the previous contraction and even the slightest difference in particle positions will lead to a drastically different universe. sure, perhaps in a singularity everything is mushed into an even distribution but there has to be some sort of asymmetry to produce the disparate concentrations of matter. Maybe it's quantum space fluctuations but those won't be the same every time and the Earth probably won't exist, at least not in the same location and exact progression. I'm probably overthinking this lol.

Even the great "Usual Suspects" has for ever been tarnished beyond enjoyment, particularly given it was directed by Bryan Singer, another one of Hollywood's hideous predators.

Prot occupied that body until he left Earth to go back to K-Pax. On that journey he used Bess's body. It took me aback when Prot told the doctor to "take care of him," it made me think What? It made more sense after the fact. I was surprised that Bess was the one to go. But thinking about it, he could help her the most given her trauma being so severe. Did anyone else notice that many of the patients had problems following traumatic events.

The other explanation is the trauma Robert experience caused psychosis which made him disassociate from himself into his safe reality from childhood. He does mention staring at the stars with his friend "Pete" which is really Robert and probably making up K-Pax as a way to cope with his father's passing, hence the coffin description when "Pete" was younger and the telescope his dad gave him. Disassociation disorders are commonly found in trauma victims rather it be something as violent as what Robert experienced or childhood abuse, early parental passing, amongst many other factors. As for Bess disappearing she could've went to K-Pax or Robert could've simply freed her the same way he escaped for 3 days. Love the reaction and how it can provoke such conversations from metaphysical to common diagnoses.

It's the only logical explanation for WTF happened to Bess. How else could she have just disappeared? Also, think about the way he looked at the yearbook and said "oh yeah that's Robert" without caring at all, like yeah that's the dude's body I stole lol

2024-04-30 03:15:43 +0000 UTCI think the ending is purposely left up to interpretation as to whether Prot really exists or is just a dissociative state (like a multiple personality) for Robert Porter, and Bess being missing just adds to that mystery. The sprinkler was a trigger for him because he used the sprinkler water to rinse the blood off his hands when he found his wife and daughter and killed the intruder. I love what he says at the end about making the same mistakes. It is very Stephen King Dark Tower! Love this movie and haven't seen it in a while. It was nice watching with you!!

Prot was a friend to Robert throughout his life and he would show up when Robert would call him, usually at a time of need. Prot reacted to the sprinkler because of Robert's memory of washing the blood from his hands in the sprinkler. Prot said the current of the river was too fast as he was trying to save Robert. I think he entered his body to save him and during the past 5 years he has been looking for someone to "find" Robert. At the end, Prot said "now that you have found Robert, take care of him". I don't think he had to use Bess to leave, I think he just took her with him to K-Pax because she had no home.

He made up Prot when he was a child as a defense mechanism to deal with trauma. "Prot" was always w him... as a child, teen and adult. When the biggest tragedy of his life happened, "Prot" took over permanently, after Robert tried to end his own life after finding his family murdered. Robert was an intelligent man interested in astronomy when his dad got him a telescope as a boy. I think this played a major role in who his alternate personality became. Now, as far as where Bess went...? She went to K-PAX! 😄 Great movie and great reaction guys!! 💜

I kinda have no respect for Kevin Spacey lol so idk if I actively wanna watch a movie of his I've never seen.. obviously Seven, American Beauty, and LA Confidential are all some faves of mine BUT I obviously seen those before his accusations came out lol.. if you do watch it again.. let me know if you think it's worth a watch!! 😁
