This is a very good movie, very powerful

Davey

Just finished The Book of Eli and I’m going right into Glory!! lol!

Carol Rocha

This movie has a special place in my heart, mainly for the content, that gave me a valuable history lesson, also i was working in Savannah, GA when they were shooting this film, in GA and SC, was 23 at the time, meeting crew and watching the film making, sent me on a journey to work in Film, which turned into a 17yr. career in filmmaking, and living in LA, CA, Glad you enjoyed it,

Ozzy24

The sacrifices made by all of the Union.soldiers should never be forgotten, they all knew they were fighting for something bigger than themselves, especially the 54th. One of the most moving movies I’ve ever seen, and this movie spurred my continued interest in Civil War history. Denzel Washington should have gotten the Oscar for this performance

Jacqueline Separovich

I still cry everytime I watch this. Great movie!!! One thing that always gets me is towards the end when the white soldiers were saying “give em’ hell 54.” It was the same soldier Denzel was arguing with when they came back from fighting. Even they changed to honor them.

If you're looking for anymore true stories of adversity and heroism for black history month, Men of Honor is absolutely fantastic. It stars Cuba Gooding Jr and Robert DeNiro and it's a true story about first black navy diver. Excellent movie that most people it seems haven't heard of.

Dan Gonya

Okay, I now remember why I haven't watched this a second time until now...the ending is gut-wrenchingly depressing.

Dan Gonya

I have no earthly idea why it has taken me so long to rewatch this movie being that it has 3 of my favorite actors of all time in it, them being Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, and Andre Brauer(RIP). If Joe Morton was in this movie, I'd probably pass out!😂 Fantastic performances all around! Morgan Freeman's speech where he's yelling at Denzel is especially poignant, as if Thomas Sowell himself had written it. Excellent author by the way for anyone interested in the origins of so many racial disparities and the roots of many of the problems we still have today.

Dan Gonya

Oh my God I meant to place this comment on boyz n the hood 🤦sorry about that

Karl Kraus

my dad still drives (sparingly) a 1972 volkswagen SuperBeetle, a car he's had since his senior year of high school he always carried me and my siblings around in that car when we were little Plenty of memories associated with it Unfortunately, it's yellow instead of that beautiful cerulean blue that was Tre's color

Karl Kraus

Such a powerful film, with fantastic performances. I haven't seen this in a long time. I have an ancestor who served with the USCT and the Freedmen's Bureau in Natchez, Mississippi. His unit didn't see battle and mainly did commissary duties, guarded supplies, etc. But because of the conditions the served in, he ended up with life long disabilities. I thought about him, while re-watching this movie.

Kimberly Tyda

Y’all gotta watch a Soldier’s Story with Denzel Washington.

John W. Harris AKA John Boy

Yes BJ...saw this is school too. Just like "The Patriot". It was a very hard movie to watch but told such a brave story. Such heart. Made me realize at a young age that we all need each other. No matter what color, what tongue we may speak, where we come from...we all need each other for this world to be a wonderful place. Love you guys.

Heather C.

Yes exactly what I was thinking

Colleen Sapp

Another good movie you guys should see is The Tuskegee Airmen.

Raider Ron

Definitely, but the original Red Tails not the remake. I don’t think the remake to the actual story any justice.

Carl 🐉

Another classic! Hope you get a chance to watch The Green Book this month… you won’t be disappointed!

Carl 🐉

So happy you finally got around to this one. I think I might have recommended this when I first joined.

Jerry

FYI, Yes, the young soldier if from Cable Guy & also the other movie you watched: WAR GAMES where he was even younger. He is Matthew Broderick and is married to actress Sarah Jessica Parker. He is now 61 years old & going on 62 next month. Had to verify my info per Google. Another movie I like him in was LADY HAWKE, (1985) starring Michelle Pfeiffer. It take place during Medieval times. She is cursed, and turns to a hawk by day while her love interest turns to a wolf by night, played by Rutger Hauer. Because of this curse she can't be with her love interest. Matthew's role is a friend to Michelle Pfeiffer's character. He also helps them break the curse put upon them by an evil Bishop.

Teri

Really enjoyed this, great film. Cheers, guys.

Rich

Isn't he the Cap'n from Nine-Nine?

Rich

A truly great film. A lot of great actors in this one. A guy that doesn't get enough credit is Cary Elwes. I loved his part as Major Forbes. He was one of the first to take up for these men.

SixEight Guy

Powerful film. Great actors and acting by everyone.

Dan Gershgol

Training Day.

Kyndu

Denzel’s performance during the whipping without saying a word is powerful.

Michael Lynch

Definitely one of the best soundtracks ever. Try Red Tails next.

Karim

I recall when it was released, a great ensemble of actors, we actually also saw the Broadway theater adaption. Both versions were great. Good choice.

George Bakis

Right. That's Lance Reddick from the John Wick films. R.I.P. to both actors.

Smitty Benzo

Oh and the actor Andre Braugher has been in TONS of stuff over the years but he is not the actor in the John Wick movies.

Pink Martini AZ

Every time I see this movie I re-live how good it is. Great cast, great music, great pride and history. I remember watching a show, I think it was on HBO called Autopsy? One of the stories shared how a guy in the 80’s was on that beach and came across civil war uniform buttons with his metal detector. He also found a skeleton. Come to find out it was most likely the 54th. They could tell from the examination of the bones that they were African American. They ended giving all of these soldiers proper burials.

Pink Martini AZ

Just got home so time to dive into this great movie. Hope everyone is doing well✌️❤️fam! Edit* Andre Braugher had an expansive career throught his decades of acting and voice work. You may know him as the Allstate commercial guy or the Captain in Brooklyn Nine Nine as of recent but not the John Wick hotel guy. Lance Reddick is who you were thinking of from Wick and sadly we lost both of them last year may they Rest in Peace.

Darth Brooks

Great powerful film this was a must watch thank you guys for uploading it. No work tonight so i am watching right now. Also i hope you both are feeling a little better thank you for everything you do for us.

Rio Mendoza

A Soldier's Story is another war movie with Denzel Washington. Not many have viewed it.

Brittany Riley

No matter how many times I see this movie, it makes me cry. From the opening credits I have to get my tissues ready. By the end credits I'm sobbing. There were so many excellent performances, but more importantly people need to know about how the civil war was won. So many young men gave their lives. The level of courage was unparalleled.

Rose Dallman

This is such an important and impactful film. I watched it in high school and really I think everyone should see it. I cry every time! Thank you for doing this one! Denzel won the Oscar for this (well-deserved) and to see a young Andre Brauer, especially after he just passed touched my heart. He we so funny on Brooklyn 99.

Mary Merry Berry

In the black history month you should play movies they are based on true storys Like The Hurricane, 12 years a slave, Mandela, The blind side, Hotel Ruanda, Lincoln or Blood diamond. Love from germany

Andreas

This movie had such an impact on me when it came out. I think I had just started high school. There was an agreement between Union and Confederacy to return the bodies of officers to their families if they fell in battle. Obviously, they did not do that in this case, creating a mass grave where they put all the bodies. When a movement started to try and get Robert Gould Shaw's body returned from Ft. Wagner, Robert's father put a stop to it, saying there was no holier place for Robert to be buried than with his brave men. In the end credits, that is an actual monument in Boston dedicated to the 54th.

Jon

Yes I guess keep busy especially for awhile.

George Bakis

Yes sir, well made.

George Bakis

Malcolm X is another great movie for BHM

Brian Anthony

One of the best movies ever made, one of the only movies to make me cry! Hope you're both doing okay. Thank you for this.

SilverDoe🎔

I watched Glory in school too back when the teachers would wheel in the TV and VCR on a cart from the library thanks for the upload and great reaction

T’michelle

A Great group of actors. I know Morgan is up in years but I hope he stays around a whole lot longer.

George Bakis

Good to have you two back. Really sad to hear about your dog. I know you talked about him a lot. You guys put in one heck of a shift and we all appreciate it.

James Forrest

Just want to say I hope you guys are doing okay! 🙏 🥹 Also great movie! Whenever Denzel Washington is in a film, it's a must watch for me. Can't wait to watch this with you guys tonight! ✌️♥️🙏

Rebecca Karsner

This is by far my favorite Civil War movie and maybe my favorite war movie. It has SO much heart and the cast is simply stellar.

CaseyD
